Abstract

Self-confidence is essential for adolescents to have at school. Self-confidence at school can optimize adolescents' self-functioning while at school, both in teaching and learning activities and when interacting with their friends and teachers. Some adolescents from orphanages are vulnerable to low self-confidence due to differences in background between themselves and other people in general. Behavioral group counseling was considered to be a solution to increase adolescents' self-confidence. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of behavioral group counseling to increase self-confidence at school in orphanage adolescents. This quantitative one-group pretest-posttest study involves six male and female adolescent subjects living in orphanages. Behavioral group counseling consisted of 15 sessions by applying the principles of behavioral learning theory, such as modeling, roleplay, and reinforcement. The self-confidence scale refers to Lauster's self-confidence theory, which has a reliability value 0.708. Data analysis used paired sample t-test. The results obtained p = 0.00 (p < 0.01) show that behavioral group counseling is effective for increasing self-confidence at school in adolescent orphanage subjects.   Rasa percaya diri merupakan hal yang sangat penting untuk dimiliki remaja di sekolah. Rasa percaya diri di sekolah dapat mengoptimalkan fungsi diri remaja selama berada di sekolah, baik dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar maupun saat berinteraksi dengan teman dan gurunya. Beberapa remaja panti asuhan rentan mengalami rendahnya rasa percaya diri akibat perbedaan latar belakang antara dirinya dengan orang lain pada umumnya. Konseling kelompok perilaku dinilai dapat menjadi solusi untuk meningkatkan rasa percaya diri remaja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas konseling kelompok behavioral untuk meningkatkan rasa percaya diri di sekolah pada remaja panti asuhan. Penelitian kuantitatif one-group pretest-posttest ini melibatkan enam subjek remaja laki-laki dan perempuan yang tinggal di panti asuhan. Konseling kelompok perilaku terdiri dari 15 sesi dengan menerapkan prinsip-prinsip teori pembelajaran perilaku, seperti modeling, roleplay, dan penguatan. Skala kepercayaan diri mengacu pada teori kepercayaan diri Lauster yang mempunyai nilai reliabilitas 0,708. Analisis data menggunakan uji Paired Sample T-test. Hasil yang diperoleh p = 0,00 (p < 0,01) menunjukkan bahwa konseling kelompok behavioral efektif untuk meningkatkan rasa percaya diri di sekolah pada mata pelajaran remaja panti asuhan.

Abstract

The prevalence of problematic smartphone usage has become a widespread concern. Excessive smartphone use can develop into an addiction if prompt intervention is not implemented. In order to effectively engage a broader demographic, health cadres play a crucial role in disseminating information to parents regarding strategies for mitigating smartphone addiction in children. The study aimed to examine the effect of psychoeducational interventions to prevent smartphone addiction among children in health cadres. The study employed a quasi-experimental, one-group pre-test and post-test design. The questionnaire comprised ten questions with a reliability coefficient of 0.60. Twenty health cadres from Public Health Center X in Malang were selected as participants. A series of six sessions were done to provide psychoeducation to prevent smartphone addiction. The findings revealed a discernible disparity between the scores obtained before the intervention's implementation and those obtained after completion. The t-test analysis revealed a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores, as shown by a significance level of p < 0.001 and a t-value of -9.787. This finding suggests that the intervention increased the knowledge of the health cadres.

Abstract

Decreased work motivation is a psychological problem that employees often experience due to work pressure that is not by their role and capacity. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of individual counseling with stress management techniques in increasing employee work motivation. The subject is an employee who has decreased motivation due to excessive workload. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used in this research. Counseling was conducted in five stages: orientation, exploration, working stage, termination, and follow-up. The results showed that individual counseling with stress management techniques could help the subject identify sources of stress, develop emotion management skills, and build work motivation. Positive changes can be seen from increased work enthusiasm, discipline, and the subject's ability to complete tasks optimally. Stress management-based individual counseling can increase work motivation, especially for employees who experience work pressure. These findings have important implications for developing counseling services in the workplace as a strategy to improve employee well-being and productivity.

Abstract

A family is the fundamental unit crucial for individual development. The presence of a cohesive family structure significantly influences the subjective well-being of children. However, there is a growing number of families headed by single mothers, potentially impacting children's subjective well-being due to the absence of a paternal figure during their formative years. The aim of this study is to offer insights into the subjective well-being of children raised by single mothers. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, utilizing in-depth interview techniques. The study involves 2 participants who were raised by single mothers. The findings reveal that both participants reported experiencing subjective well-being, attributed to social support from significant others. This support fosters positive affect and life satisfaction, which outweighs negative emotions, despite the absence of a father figure. The significance of this study lies in providing theoretical evidence that children raised by single mothers can indeed experience subjective well-being. Furthermore, these results serve as a foundation for developing interventions aimed at enhancing the subjective well-being of children raised by single mothers, through an analysis of the factors influencing well-being as identified in this study.
