Abstract

This study aims to describe the critical thinking profile of eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 19 Palu in solving mathematical problems on the topic of functions. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were three people who were selected based on their level of mathematical ability (high, medium, and low). Data collection techniques included written tests and interviews, with data credibility tested using time triangulation. The results showed that: 1) Students with high mathematical ability fulfilled all critical thinking indicators (focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, and overview). 2) Students with moderate mathematical ability fulfilled five critical thinking indicators (focus, reason, situation, clarity, and overview) but were not accurate in concluding solutions. 3) Students with low mathematical ability only fulfilled three critical thinking indicators (situation, clarity, and overview) and had difficulty in providing reasons and determining appropriate solution strategies.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 6 Tojo pada materi operasi bilangan bulat. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan desain penelitian yang mengacu pada Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 6 Tojo. Jenis data yang digunakan adalah data kualitatif dan data kuantitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data yaitu wawancara, tes, observasi dan catatan lapangan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukan peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dari siklus I ke siklus II pada materi operasi bilangan bulat dengan menerapkan fase-fase sebagai berikut: (1) menyampaian tujuan pembelajaran dan memotivasi siswa, (2) menyajikan materi, (3) mengorganisasikan siswa kedalam kelompok-kelompok belajar, (4) membimbing kelompok bekerja dan belajar, (5) evaluasi, (6) memberikan penghargaan.
