Abstract

In the context of fiber optic network implementation, the function of techno-economic analysis is to evaluate the costs and benefits of implementing fiber optic networks, as well as to determine the feasibility and success of the approaches to be compared in building and operating the network. Net present value (NPV), and internal rate of return (IRR) are some of the methods commonly used by investors to quantitatively evaluate the potential for technology implementation and make informed decisions about whether the investment is worth making. Consider the number of interested parties and the availability of existing backbone network. In Jembrana Regency, the Gilimanuk cluster plan produces an NPV and IRR of IDR 431,608,386 and 24.27% respectively. Meanwhile, for Tabanan Regency, Plan Cluser Marga produces NPV and IRR of IDR 853,682,479 and 35.83% respectively.

Abstract

This research aims to meet the target of building a homepass network of 512 homepasses from PT. PLN ICON PLUS in the North Bali UP3 area sector, namely the Gilimanuk Village area, Melaya District, Jembrana and the use of Huawei Optical Line Terminal (OLT) equipment with a total of 8 ports as well as the use of backbone network access that is already available in the Gilimanuk area. Gilimanuk demographically has an area of 56.01 km2 and consists of residential buildings inhabited by 2,451 families. To accommodate homepass from the Gilimanuk housing complex, this research offers a cascading scheme for Fiber To The Home (FTTH) with Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology that is appropriate to use but still pays attention to the quality of the network provided. In determining the feasibility of the network design and determining the appropriate cascading scheme for the Gilimanuk Cluster, the parameters in network design and implementation are focused on measuring the power link budget in theory and implementation, then the rise time budget value in the network optisystem software simulation. The results of this research show that the 1:4 to 1:16 cascading scheme has better FTTH network system feasibility than the 1:8 to 1:8 cascading scheme with a Prx value of -18.42 dBm, which does not exceed the minimum Prx threshold value of the ITU-T G standard. 984, namely -28 dBm, then the rise time budget shows the system rise time value: 0.25537 ns, which does not exceed the maximum rise time limit, namely 0.292 ns, so the 1:4 to 1:16 cascading scheme is feasible to implement.

Abstract

FTTH is an access network that uses fiber optic as a transmission medium to be distributed to customers. This fiber optic network has very good performance and is reliable and will have a very positive impact on customers, in order for clients to be happy with the services that telecom companies provide, especially in Indonesia. This research will discuss the design of a Fiber To The Home (FTTH) network in Tabanan Regency, Marga Village which includes the value of the Link Power Budget, Rise Time, and the amount of traffic required. after calculating the theoretical power link budget with samples based on the furthest distance (OLT to FAT 1). The value of the power receivers (Prx) from this design is obtained by a Prx value of -20.414 dBm (Downlink) and in the implementation the Prx difference is obtained, where at the farthest FAT (FAT 1) the Prx value is -16.65 dBm. Regarding the Marga area, it complies with the ITU-T G.984 standard, which is the GPON network implementation standard.
