Abstract

The tensions of the United States and Iran, as can be seen lately, have really reached a rare point in the many escalations in recent years in the Middle East. Apart from the historical factors that began since Iran succeeded in igniting the revolutionary fire by subverting the regime of Shah Mohamed Reza Pahlavi, another factor that further heightened the geopolitical dynamics of the region was the departure of the United States under President Donald Trump from nuclear agreement of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to tighten the geopolitical dynamics back economic sanctions for Iran. In this article, the writer tries to explain the phenomenon of tension between the two countries using the national interest theory according to Scott Burchill, by reading the strategic goals to be achieved from the political attitudes of the United States in the Middle East for its national interests.

Abstract

Peristiwa The Arab Spring atau Musim Semi Arab merupakan potret yang menggambarkan bagaimana kesadaran kelektif bangsa Arab mampu menggumpal dalam suatu narasi besar untuk meruntuhkan tembok-tembok raksasa kekuasaan korup, diktaror dan sewenang-wenang. Kesadaran tersebut sama sekali tidak bisa dibendung, bahkan menembus batas-batas teritorial serta melampaui sentimen-sentimen agama, ras, etnis dan budaya.Buku The Arab Spring yang ditulis oleh Ahmad Sahide ini merupakan telaah konprehensif-sistematis atas peristiwa Musim Semi Arab dengan menjadikan Tunisia, Mesir dan Suriah sebagai objek kajian. Dengan menekankan pada diskursus tantangan dan peluang terbukanya keran demokrasi di Timur Tengah, khususnya dalam konteks ketiga negara di atas, Sahide mencoba mengurai benang merah dalam pergolakan Musim Semi Arab yang ditandai dengan perubahan-perubahan besar dalam peta politik Timur Tengah, terutama juga menyeret berbagai aktor yang terlibat di dalamnya, baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung.

Abstract

Hajj savings is an important product in Islamic banking that assists Muslims in financially planning their pilgrimage. This study analyzes the implementation of operational risk management on the hajj savings product at BPRS Bhakti Sumekar Cabang Madya Pamekasan, aiming to identify the supporting factors, obstacles, and its impact on product success. A qualitative method was employed through observation, interviews, and documentation to comprehensively collect primary and secondary data. The analysis shows that effective risk management practices, such as the use of the digital Setrik application and standardized procedures, can minimize operational risks like human errors and fraud. The main supporting factors include quality human resources, adequate technology, and customer loyalty; while the obstacles consist of limited network coverage in remote areas, account officers’ time management, and low technological literacy among elderly customers. The positive impacts of effective risk management include increased customer satisfaction and growth in the hajj savings portfolio, whereas neglecting operational risk may cause financial losses and erosion of customer trust. The study’s implications emphasize strengthening the integration between risk management and business strategies to ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of Islamic banking.
