Abstract

In order to develop a proper packaging system for sliced tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus), the biochemical and microbiological qualities under control (unsealed package), vacuum package and modified atmosphere packaging with 50% CO2/50% N2 (MAP-1)  and 50% CO2/50% O2 (MAP-2)  were evaluated every three days during 18 days of chilled storage (4±1°C). The pH value was not significantly different (p 0.05) by treatments until day 9, but significantly lower values (p 0.05) were observed on day 12 of the storage in all treated samples compared to the control. The total volatile base nitrogen (TVB-N) value progressively increased, but not significantly different (p 0.05) in all treatments during the entire storage period. The thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) amounts were significantly lower (p 0.05) on day 12 in the vacuum and MAP-1 samples compared to the control sample, and were significantly higher (p 0.05) on day 6, 9, and 12 of the storage period in MAP-2 samples compared to the control, vacuum and MAP-1 samples. The amounts of pH, TVB-N, and TBARS in all samples did not exceed the acceptable limit in almost the entire storage. The total viable count (TVC) progressively increased with storage time. Nevertheless, TVC values were lower (p 0.05) on day 6, 9, and 12 of the storage periods in all treatments compared to the control. The TVCs exceeded the acceptable limit (7 log CFU/g) on days 6-9 for control, 9-12 for vacuum, day 12 for MAP-2, and 15 for MAP-1 sample during the storage period. Therefore, the MAP has shown promising results for shelf life extension that can be practiced to display the fishery products with prolonged shelf life.

Secondary data is the heart of this study and the study has been conducted by following the three steps approaches of secondary research procedures which include developing research questions, identifying the database to answer the research questions and evaluating the collected secondary dataset. The study has found that the COVID-19 has several negative impacts on the tourism industry including the noticeable losses of revenue, a huge number of cuts off of jobs and closing the operation of the business both permanently and temporarily. Though it is near to impossible to get overcome this pandemic quickly but taking proper strategies can minimize the impact and recover the industry. This study provides an understanding of the present scenario of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic with a guideline for future research to the academician and probable recovery strategies for the industry professional.

Abstract

Purpose- This study aims to review and analyze the articles related to social media applications and their impact on the tourism industry. Methodology- For conducting this study, three leading databases named Google Scholar, Science Direct, and EBSCO Host were used for data collection purposes, and the research was conducted in three phases. Selecting the database for collecting data was the first phase, which was carried out during the period between November 2020 to December 2020. In the second phase, screening of the collected data was done, and in the final stage, 46 articles were selected to conduct this study. Discussion- Over the last decade, the rapid advancements in information and communication technology (ICTs) have had reflective impacts on the global tourism sector. Both researchers and professionals have acknowledged that social media applications have a significant impact on both suppliers and consumers of the tourism industry. Findings- Based on the reviewed articles from the perspectives of the tourism consumers as well as the tourism suppliers, this study has found that consumers use social media in pre-during-post travel for searching different information and suppliers generally use social media for promotion, communication, management, research purposes.

Abstract

This study examines how e-haj management systems in Bangladesh affect user satisfaction. Therefore, the authors presented the hypothesis using webQual 4.0 Model. Data was collected using a 5-point-lickert questionnaire. 347 valid data were collected from Dhaka city. SPSS 27 displayed descriptive statistics, and Smart PLS 3.3.3 was analysed for measurement and structural model. The study found the positive impact of the usability, information quality, and service information quality of e-hajj on users' satisfaction. Thus, e-government implementers can get benefits from the findings of the paper as they come to know what factors motivates individuals to use the government's e-haj management portal. This finding also suggested that government should focus on website’s easy to navigate option, updated information and 24/7 customer service. As a result, this tendency of the citizens towards e-government services will be increased day by day and motivated to accept these e-hajj system. This research will increase trust and improve the democratic process for all citizens including businesses, or different government agencies by enhancing service quality provided to them. Small sample size, data collection period, and location are the limitations of this study. Future researchers may combine more model’s items and reduce these limitations to improve practical application studies.
