Abstract

In his tafsir work al-Baḥr al-Muḥīṭ, Abū Ḥayyān al-Andalusī is one of the scholars who has reviewed the interpretation of the Qur'an using linguistic analysis. The author of this research will go over Abu Hayya'n al-Andalusiy's opinions regarding qira, 'a, t sha, and dhdhah in the tafsir of al-Baḥr al-Muḥīṭ. Since it does not fit the requirements for the legitimacy of qirā’āt, qirā’āt shādhdhah is one of the ways of recitation that is still up for controversy among scholars. However, some commentators, such as Abū Ḥayyān al-Andalusī in the tafsir of al-Baḥr al-Muḥīṭ, utilize it to interpret the Qur'an. The ideas of Abū Ḥayyān al-Andalusī regarding qirā’āt shādhdhah are thoroughly examined in the linguistic domains of syntax, morphology, and phonology. The problem that has to be solved is this: How do Abū Ḥayyān al-Andalusī's ideas on qirā’āt shādhdhah fit into the understanding of al-Baḥr al-Muḥīṭ? This study employs a qualitative approach and is conducted in a library. It analyses Abū Ḥayyān al-Andalusī's views on qirā’āt shādhdhah in the context of al-Baḥr al-MuḥīṭThis study maps the ideas of Abū Ḥayyān al-Andalusī on qirā’āt shādhdhah in the linguistic features of phonology, morphology, and syntax in the interpretation of al-Baḥr al-Muḥīṭ. The results of the research of Abū Ḥayyān al-Andalusī on qirā’āt shādhdhah in the interpretation of al-Baḥr al-Muḥīṭ in the phonological, morphological, and syntactic domains are the study's outcomes. A portion of Abū Ḥayyān al-Andalusī's ideas regarding qirā’āt shādhdhah do not alter, but rather impact, reinforce, and broaden the meaning of interpretation.

Abstract

Tolerance is a prerequisite for building interfaith communication to create peace in Indonesia. This is because Indonesia is a plural country. The idea of tolerance is found in the interpretation of the Qur'an, including in the interpretation of al-Ibriz by KH. Bisri Mustafa. This research explores the context of local wisdom in the interpretation of tolerance verses in tafsir al-Ibriz. This research is a qualitative research with textual analysis of the tafsir. The focus of this research is on the interpretation of tolerance verses in tafsir al-Ibriz, especially on five things: believer-unbeliever interaction, no compulsion in religion, living together with people of different religions, the existence of the people of the book, and Islam as a mercy to the universe. The results of this study found that the context of local wisdom contained in tafsir al-Ibriz is found in the interpretation and analysis written in Javanese. Tafsir al-Ibriz is addressed to Muslims in general, especially Muslims in Indonesia, especially in Java. In the context of pluralism, the writing of this interpretation is also intended to ground the Qur'an to a plural society.

Abstract

Studies on love and tolerance in Qur'anic interpretation have been dominated by the normative-theological perspectives of Middle Eastern exegetes, until now, which do not accommodate social-cultural contexts and local wisdom. This is because there has been little exploration of the dimensions of interpretation based on local wisdom that are relevant to the discourse of global harmony. This study aims to fill this gap through a comparative analysis of the thoughts of M. Quraish Shihab and Nasaruddin Umar. The method used is a literature study with a qualitative-comparative approach to the works of Quraish Shihab, Tafsir al-Mishbah, and Nasaruddin Umar, such as Deradikalisasi Pemahaman Al-Qur'an (Deradicalization of the Understanding of the Qur'an). The results show that Quraish Shihab and Nasaruddin Umar share the view that local values such as mutual cooperation and deliberation can serve as the foundation for global peace. The difference in their thinking is that Quraish Shihab emphasizes universal compassion and humanity, while Nasaruddin Umar emphasizes equality and plurality. Their thinking offers a model of contextual interpretation that is relevant to the contemporary world and contributes significantly to the development of peaceful, inclusive, and transformative Islamic studies. This study not only contributes to the understanding of Indonesian Qur’anic hermeneutics but also proposes an integrative model of contextual exegesis relevant to global ethical discourse
