Abstract

The research in this paper aims to find out how the form of the role of knowledge dissemination can be carried out by the information retrieval Sapa Pustakawan service to the users at the IAIN Kudus Library. This research was conducted with a descriptive research approach . The data collection method used in this study is through the observation method and is supported by data collection through the library research method. Data analysis was carried out by comparing the findings of observations in the field with the theories obtained in the library research method, then synthesis was carried out to find a concept. The results of this study indicate that the form of the role of knowledge dissemination that can be carried out by the Sapa Pustakawan service at the IAIN Kudus Library is 1.) being able to provide knowledge to users to have the ability to search for correct information in print and digitally/online. 2.) able to provide knowledge to users about how to utilize and use reference manager tools applications such as Zotero or Mendeley applications. 3) able to provide knowledge to users to have the ability to avoid plagiarism of scientific work. In this study, it was also known that due to the uncontrolled covid-19 pandemic, the IAIN Kudus Library took a policy to further simplify the role of the Sapa Pustakawan service. The Sapa Pustakawan service only serves the search for sources of information needed by users through a telegram social media group.

Abstract

Diversification of library services is an effort to diversify library services. This effort is carried out in order to create library services that are appropriate and in accordance with the needs of the users it serves. This research aims to find out how to diversify services in the Sapa Pustakawan service at the IAIN Kudus Library. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative methods. The data collection method used in this research is through observation and literature study methods. The data collection method through observation was carried out by researchers to observe and collect data regarding the implementation of the Sapa Pustakawan service at the IAIN Kudus Library. Meanwhile, researchers use the literature study method to collect data about references related to the research theme. The data obtained in this research was then analyzed and presented using qualitative data analysis techniques. From this research it can be concluded that the Sapa Pustakawan service has been able to carry out service diversification well. The diversification of services in the Sapa Pustakawan service is based on the increasingly diverse needs of users and the increasingly rapid advances in information technology. Through service diversification, several service products have been created from the Sapa Pustakawan service. Products from the diversification of services in the Sapa Pustakawan service at the IAIN Kudus Library include the Onsite Sapa Pustakawan service, the Online Sapa Pustakawan Service, the roving reference service, and the Zotero class service.

Abstract

Abstract: The Zotero class is an information literacy class organized by the IAIN Kudus Library. Through the Zotero class, users are given the skills to be able to use the Zotero application to manage references and make citations in making scientific work. This study aims to analyze the motivation of users in participating in the Zotero class with the perspective of McClelland's motivation theory. This research was conducted using descriptive qualitative research methods. In this study used two types of data collection methods. The data collection method used in this research uses the interview method and the literature study method. The research data that has been obtained is then analyzed using McClelland's theory of motivation. The results of the study show that the motivation of users to take part in Zotero classes at the IAIN Kudus Library is to get to know and learn about Zotero applications, to have provisions for working on a thesis or final assignment, to add to relationships or friendships, and to fill free time during college holidays. The conclusion of this study is, from the perspective of McClelland's motivation theory, the motivation of users to take Zotero classes at the IAIN Kudus Library is driven by the needs of users to achieve and the needs of users to affiliate. In this study, there was no user motivation that was driven by the need for power.Keywords: academic libraries, McClelland theory of motivation; Zotero class; Abstrak: Kelas Zotero adalah kelas literasi informasi yang diselenggarakan oleh Perpustakaan IAIN Kudus. Melalui kelas Zotero, pemustaka diberikan keterampilan agar dapat menggunakan aplikasi Zotero untuk mengelola referensi dan membuat sitasi dalam pembuatan karya ilmiah. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk melakukan analisis terhadap motivasi pemustaka dalam mengikuti kelas Zotero tersebut dengan perspektif teori motivasi McClelland. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode penelitian kualitatif yang bertipe deskriptif. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan dua jenis metode pengumpulan data. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode wawancara dan metode studi pustaka. Data penelitian yang telah didapatkan kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori motivasi McClelland. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa motivasi pemustaka dalam mengikuti kelas Zotero di Perpustakaan IAIN Kudus adalah untuk mengenal dan mempelajari aplikasi Zotero, untuk memiliki bekal dalam mengerjakan skripsi atau tugas akhir, untuk menambah relasi atau pertemanan, dan untuk mengisi waktu luang saat liburan kuliah. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah, dalam perspektif teori motivasi McClelland, motivasi pemusataka untuk mengikuti kelas Zotero di Perpustakaan IAIN Kudus didorong oleh kebutuhan pemustaka untuk berprestasi dan kebutuhan pemustaka untuk berafilisasi. Dalam penelitian ini tidak ditemukan motivasi pemustaka yang didorong oleh kebutuhan untuk berkuasa.Kata kunci: kelas Zotero; perpustakaan perguruan tinggi; teori motivasi McClelland

Abstract

Shelving merupakan kegiatan penataan koleksi perpustakaan pada rak koleksi. Kegiatan shelving yang benar dan tepat dapat mempermudah pemustaka dalam melakukan penelusuran informasi di perpustakaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pelaksanaan shelving koleksi di Perpustakaan IAIN Kudus. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara dan studi pustaka. Data penelitian yang telah terkumpul kemudian dianalisis dengan pendekatan analisis kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 1) shelving koleksi di Perpustakaan IAIN Kudus memiliki teknis pelaksanaan yang berbeda-beda tergantung lokasi koleksi tersebut, 2) shelving koleksi di Perpustakaan IAIN Kudus memiliki sistem penataan yang berbeda-beda tergantung lokasi koleksi tersebut, 3) kendala yang ditemui dalam kegiatan shelving koleksi adalah pemustaka yang kurang disiplin, tingkat keilmuan petugas shelving, jumlah petugas shelving, jumlah buku yang melebihi rak, keadaan rak, pencahayaan rak, debu dan troli pengangkut, 4) solusi yang telah diambil oleh petugas shelving adalah melakukan shelving secara rutin setiap 1 jam sekali, mengedukasi pemustaka, berkonsultasi dengan pustakawan, memakai masker dan kaos tangan, memakai senter, dan menggunakan tangga. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan shelving koleksi di Perpustakaan IAIN Kudus sudah dapat berjalan lancar serta sudah sesuai dengan aturan dan sistem penataan yang berlaku.

Abstract

Background of the Study: Effective interpersonal communication between librarians and users is one of the factors that support the creation of excellent library services Objectives:  This research was aimed to examine the role of librarians in building the effective interpersonal communication in the reserve collection service at the IAIN Kudus Library Method: This study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive research method. The data collection method used in this study was using the interview method, observation, and literature study. The data obtained in this study were then analyzed using the theory of effective interpersonal communication from Joseph A. DeVito Finding:  The results of this study indicate that the role played by librarians in building effective interpersonal communication is to provide complete service information, provide motivation to users, provide services regardless of social and physical status, give praise to users, position themselves as partners, always be there when needed by users, and be able to accept suggestions and criticism from users. The results of the study indicate that the role played by librarians has fulfilled the five elements of effective interpersonal communication from Joseph A. DeVito. The five elements are elements of openness, empathy, supportive attitude, positive attitude, and equality Conclusion: From the results of this study, it can be concluded that librarians in the reserve collection service at the IAIN Kudus Library are able to build effective interpersonal communication with the users they serve
