Abstract

One of the important materials to study in a trigonometry course is the value of trigonometric functions in standard positions. However, the results of preliminary research show that there are still many first semester students who experience errors in determining the value of the trigonometric function in the standard position. These errors are important for further analysis. Therefore this study aims to describe the mistakes of the first semester students in determining the value of the trigonometric function in the standard position. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study with a case study approach towards students of the mathematics education study program at a university in Malang. The data collected in this study consisted of the subject's work and transcripts of interviews with the subject. Work data were analyzed descriptively to know the types of student errors. The transcript data from the interview results were analyzed by coding, to determine the factors that caused student error. The results showed that out of 34 students who made errors in determining the value of trigonometric functions at the standard position, 11% had conceptual errors, 56% had principle errors, 15% had calculation errors and 18% had factual errors. The results of this study contribute to teaching the material for the value of trigonometric functions in the standard position to reduce conceptual errors, principle errors, calculatin errors, and factual errors.

Abstract

Teachers need to follow Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to improve their competence. This CPD can be carried out on a community basis through Subject Teacher Consultation (STC). One of the STCs who are partners in this community service activity is the STC Mathematics MTs Lumajang Regency. However, the partners have not carried out the third CPD activity, namely the creation of innovative works. This has an impact on the student's low activity and result of study. This problem can be overcome by providing training for these teachers. Therefore, this service activity aims to improve the ability of teachers to create innovative works e-modules. This service activity consists of 3 stages, namely training, group work, and evaluation. The results of the service show that teachers understand the important role of CPD and all groups have been able to create innovative e-modules. The results of the dedication evaluation show that the success rate of e-module creation training is 89.50%, which means it is very successful.

Abstract

T mahasiswa semester pertama dalam menentukan nilai fungsi trigonometri sudut istimewa. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus terhadap 5 mahasiswa semester pertama program studi pendidikan matematika yang mengalami kesalahan dalam menentukan nilai fungsi trigonometri sudut istimewa. Instrumen penelitian ini terdiri dari satu soal tentang nilai fungsi trigonometri sudut istimewa. Data yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari hasil pekerjaan dan transkrip hasil wawancara dengan subjek. Analisis data hasil pekerjaan dilakukan dengan menglasifikasikan kesalahan subjek. Sedangkan transkrip hasil wawancara dianalisis dengan pengkodean untuk mengetahui penyebab kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh subjek. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat dua kesalahan dalam menentukan nilai fungsi trigonometri sudut istimewa, yaitu kesalahan prinsip dan kesalahan fakta. Kesalahan prinsip adalah kesalahan dalam menggunakan cara untuk menentukan nilai fungsi trigonometri sudut istimewa yang disebabkan lupa dan kurang teliti dalam menggunakan cara untuk menyelesaikan soal. Kesalahan fakta adalah kesalahan dalam memahami informasi dalam soal yang disebabkan terburu-buru dalam menyelesaikan soal. Peneliti merekomendasikan kepada guru atau dosen untuk meminta siswa atau mahasiswa lebih teliti dan tidak terburu-buru dalam menentukan nilai fungsi trigonometri sudut istimewa.
