Abstract

This paper discusses the urgency of renewing the character of Christian leaders in churches, schools, and public spaces. This research was conducted through a literature review to explore the challenges faced by leaders as they age. It researched the importance of improving the character of educators as leaders, and explored the understanding of Tom Yeakley, N.T. Wright, Marvin Oxenham, and Andar Ismail on character formation. Based on a review of the literature, it is stated that Christian leaders bring the impact of their past personal formation into their duties and roles in ministry. It was also stated that the renewal of the character of Christian leaders in Indonesia is very necessary and that it has a theological, theoretical, and practical basis. The thoughts in this paper are expected to be beneficial for the church and Christian education.

Abstract

Abstract. This paper highlights the importance of educating church members to address the challenge of corruption in Indonesia. Seminars, workshops, religious teachings, and catechism can all be means of church community development activities. One of the teaching models for church members that is still needed is learning writing that is easy for readers to understand and provoke reflection to take a positive attitude. Andar Ismail has made this effort through several theological, critical, and reflective writings in “Seri Selamat” to voice anti-corruption. Through a literature study method, this article presents the attitudes and thoughts that Andar Ismail specifically expresses for adults. This study concludes that the church is called not only to manage worship and fellowship, but also to cultivate transformative learning about faith in Christ. Faith in the Lord Jesus should motivate church members to reject corruption and choose honesty, even if it costs them money.
