Abstract

Seram Island, rich in biodiversity, is a source of wildlife often sold illegally. This study aims to identify protected wildlife trade routes between Seram Island and Ambon Island. This study was conducted using a direct survey method in three main ports on Seram Island and several ports and airports on Ambon Island. The results showed that several protected bird species, such as cockatoos, parrots, and bays, are sold illegally. The trade route is generally through small ports with minimal supervision. The main obstacle in handling this illegal trade is the lack of human resources and strict supervision at these ports. This study recommends increased surveillance, socialization of wildlife protection laws, and stricter law enforcement to address this problem.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine traditional forms of conservation and the process of implementing traditional conservation on natural resources on the islands of Nusa Manu and Nusa Leun. The method used is the descriptive method, namely making systematic and accurate descriptions according to facts found in the field and examining in depth the norms applied in the implementation of traditional conservation of natural resources. Data obtained from interviews are in the form of traditional conservation on the islands of Nusa Manu and Nusa Leun. The results of data analysis show that there are Matakau, Mangroves on Nusa Manu Island, Marsegu big bats. Matakau was installed on Nusa Leun Island. There are 3 types of matakau owned by certain clans, namely, matakau liwa-liwa, matakau porobangka and matakau ilang jalang, the Sawai people make Nusa Leun island a place to cut down mangroves but not Nusa Manu island . Abstract

This research aims to determine the process of handling the bodies of the Nuaulu Tribe as well as the impact of the Nuaulu Tribe Traditions in Sepa Country on the environment and to find out why the bodies of the Nuaulu Tribe do not emit an odor even though they are not buried. This research uses descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach. The research instrument generally carried out by researchers is field observation. The Nuaulu Tribe community in Sepa Village was used as a sample in the research. The results show that the Traditional process of handling the bodies of the Nuaulu tribe is a traditional ritual passed down from the ancestors where the deceased person is laid to rest in the funeral home, then wrapped in a mat, taken into the traditional house where the traditional head wil pray. The body of the deceased person is not put in the grave, but only placed on a para-para bamboo (a bamboo pole like a bed). The handling place for the Nuaulu Tribe (nyonyiane) is a forest dominated by bamboo plants and is a place that the Nuaulu Tribe community can enter and that is only for certain people from that tribe. The body was placed on a para-para covered with mats and Galoba (Hornstedtia alliacea) stems without any form of preservation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Wildlife is all animals that still have wild characteristics that live on land, water or in the air, including wildlife who live freely or kept by humans. Referring to demographic data and an increase of agricultural land area in Kei Besar island during the last five years, it is predicted that there has been a reduction in the forest area that has been converted into residential areas and agricultural land. If this activity enters the Daab Mountain Nature Reserve area it is predicted that wildlife habitat will also be disturbed (reduced), with the result that can affect the population and distribution of wildlife. This study aims to determine the species and distribution of wildlife in the vicinity of the Southern Daab MountainNature Reserve The method used is Index Point of Aboundance (IPA) and Line transect. From The results of this study it can be seen that in the area around the Southern Mount Daab Nature Reserve, there is 41 species of wild animals that divided into six species of mammals, thirty-two species of birds (Aves), and three species of reptiles, also there are five species of endemic wildlife. The richness of wild species that live and breed in the area around the southern Mount Daab Nature Reserve is more in the west than in the east because habitat conditions are more favorable regarding the use of land by public.

Abstract

Abstract

Indigenous peoples who have lived in the Maluku Islands since their ancestors have applied various forms of local wisdom to the conservation of natural resources and the environment around them. As coastal communities who live on small islands separated by the sea, there are various limitations, especially communication and transportation which are determined by the season. The community seeks to know the dynamics of natural changes through various life experiences known as NANAKU. The layout of the island greatly determines the application of a local wisdom, so that what is done by the people in the Southeast Maluku Regency is different from on the islands of Seram or Buru Island. The wildlife on Seram Island and Buru Island are different from the endemic wildlife on the Aru Islands. The problems faced by small island communities are transportation, communication of science and technology. Wildlife as God's creation must be guarded and protected from extinction because it has important benefits for our lives. Wildlife can be used as an indicator (Nanaku) to find out natural phenomena around us. The role of foresters and ecotourists in motivating rural communities is needed so that environmental components, especially wildlife, can be put to good use.
