Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), neonatal mortality contributes 59% to infant mortality where one of the biggest causes is neonatal tetanus, an infection of the umbilical cord that occurs in infants. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between education and knowledge of mothers and care for the umbilical cord in newborns at BPM Irma Suryani Prabumulih City in 2023. The research method is analytic in nature, using a cross sectional approach. The population of this study were mothers giving birth at BPM Irma Suryani Prabumulih City in 2023. The number of samples in this study were 42 respondents. Sampling using Accidental sampling method. Research instruments in the form of checklists and questionnaires. The results of the study based on univariate analysis found that out of 42 respondents, there were 8 respondents (19%) who did not perform cord care and 34 respondents (81%) who did cord care, there were 35 persons (83.3%) who had higher education and 7 people (16.7%) have low education, there are 33 people (78.6%) who have knowledge and 9 people (21.4%) who have less knowledge. From the bivariate analysis, it was known that of the 35 respondents who had a good education, there were 32 respondents (76.2%) who performed umbilical cord care, while of the 7 respondents who had low education, there were 2 respondents (4.8%) who performed umbilical cord care and from 33 respondents with good knowledge there were 31 respondents (73.8%) who performed umbilical cord care while of the 9 respondents who had less knowledge there were 3 respondents (7.1%) who performed umbilical cord care. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between mother's education and cord care with a P value 0.001 < ? 0.05, there is a significant relationship between knowledge and cord care with a P value 0.000 < 0.05. Midwives are expected to increase counseling and socialize about umbilical cord care for newborns in the community. Keywords : Umbilical cord care, education, knowledge

Abstract

The mother and child health book is a book that contains mother's health records starting from pregnancy, childbirth to postpartum, apart from that, the KIA book also contains children's health records, from newborns to 6 year old children. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and compliance of pregnant women with the use of maternal and child health books. This research uses analytical methods, with a cross sectional approach. The population was all third trimester pregnant women who visited Umi Kalsum's independent practice when the research was conducted. The sample consisted of 40 people taken by accidental sampling, with a questionnaire as the research instrument. The research results based on univariate analysis were obtained from 40 people, there were 32 people (80%) who used the KIA book and 8 people (20%) who did not use the KIA book, there were 31 people (77.5%) who had good knowledge and 9 people ( 22.5%) had less knowledge, there were 30 people (75%) who complied with ANC visits ? 4 times and 10 people (25%) who made ANC visits < 4 times. And from the results of the Bibariat analysis, it was found that of the 31 people who had good knowledge, 29 people (72.5%) used the KIA book, while of the 9 people who had less knowledge, 3 people (7.5%) used the KIA book. Of the 30 people who complied with ANC visits ? 4 times, 28 people (70%) used the KIA book, while of the 10 people who made ANC visits < 4 times, 4 people (10%) used the KIA book. The conclusion is that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and the use of KIA books with a P value of 0.000 and there is a significant relationship between maternal compliance and the use of KIA books with a P value of 0.001.

Abstract

Carcinoma Mammae is the main factor of death from all cancers that occur in Indonesian women. This study aims to determine the relationship between age and knowledge of female students towards early detection of Carcinoma Mammae at SMA Bakti Keluarga, Lubuk Linggau City in 2025. This study utilized an Analytical Survey with a Cross Sectional approach. The population was female students of class X of SMA Bakti Keluarga, Lubuk Linggau City in 2025 and the sample was taken using the Total sampling technique, totaling 40 people. The measuring instrument was a questionnaire. The results of the univariate analysis found that from 40 female adolescents, it was found that there were 31 early female adolescents (77.5%) and 9 late female adolescents (22.5%) and it was found that female adolescents with good knowledge were 25 respondents (62.5%) and female students with poor knowledge were 15 respondents (37.5%). Bivariate analysis shows that the age of adolescent girls has a significant relationship with early detection of Breast Carcinoma (p value 0.002) and the knowledge of adolescent girls has a significant relationship with early detection of Breast Carcinoma (p value 0.001). The conclusion is that there is a relationship between the age and knowledge of adolescent girls with early detection of Breast Carcinoma.
