Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to determine the learning outcomes and level of critical thinking demonstrated by the students in the class. The researchers utilized a quasi-experimental study methodology, especially employing a research design called the one group pretest-posttest design. The methodology used was the Independent Sample t-Test to analyze learning outcomes, with a significance level of 5%. This research results a substantial significance. The two-tailed test result is statistically significant because the p-value (0.000) is smaller than the significance level (0.05), or the t-statistic (3.268) is larger than the crucial t-value (2.01063). This study suggests that the combined use of integrated problem-based learning (PBL) and numbered head together (NHT) learning models significantly affect the learning outcomes of class X students at SMA Negeri 16 Samarinda.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model assisted by video media on the critical thinking abilities on the material Bacteria. The ability to think critically is an important competency for the 21st century that needs to be developed in the biology learning process, especially in abstract and complex material such as bacteria. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes selected purposively, namely the experimental class which received the PBL model treatment assisted by video media, and the control class which used the conventional learning model. The instrument used is a critical thinking test which was developed based on critical thinking indicators according to Ennis. The data analysis technique used is the Independent Sample t-Test with a significance level of 5%. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that the t test on students' critical thinking skills showed a significance value (0.000 < 0.005). Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence from the use of the Problem Based Learning learning model assisted by video media on students' critical thinking skills in the Bacteria material.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate the Three Part Cards Montessori learning media for teaching Biodiversity to tenth- grade students at SMAN 5 Balikpapan. The development followed the 4D Model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), including validation by experts, practical trials and effectiveness testing. Data were collected through expert assessments, student responses, and learning outcomes including critical thinking skills. The result showed that the Three Part Cards Montessori media was feasible, practical and effective. Expert Validation scores were high, students responded positively, and significant improvement was observed in students learning outcomes and critical thinking abilities. This study suggests that Three Part Cards Montessori is a promising alternative learning media to enhance conceptual understanding and critical thinking in biology education
