<![CDATA[This article will describe the improvement of poetry writing literacy and students' responses before and after using video. The method used in the study was an experiment, with a Pre-experimental one group pretest posttest design. The results showed that the ability to write poetry before and after using video media increased. This can be seen from the test of the difference in the average pretest and posttest which obtained a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 which means it is smaller than 0.005 and it can be said that there is a significant difference between the two data. Then, the results of the N-gain score test showed a value of 0.83 or around 83% and were included in the effective category. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of video media is effective in improving students' poetry writing literacy. On the other hand, the results of the questionnaire showed that most students felt helped by the use of video media in learning to write poetry.Key wodds: literacy; writing poetry; media; travel videosAbstrakArtikel ini akan mendeskripsikan peningkatan literasi menulis puisi dan respon siswa sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan video. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu eksperimen, dengan desain Pre-experimental one group pretest posttest design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan menulis puisi sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan media video mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini terlihat dari uji perbedaan rata-rata pretest dan posttest yang memperoleh nilai Sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 yang berarti lebih kecil dari 0,005 dan dapat dikatakan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dari kedua data. Kemudian, hasil uji N-gain score yang menunjukkan nilai 0,83 atau sekitar 83% dan termasuk pada kategori efektif. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media video efektif untuk meningkatkan literasi menulis puisi siswa.
