Abstract

Aceh reached its zenith, during the reign of Sultan Iskandar Muda Mahkota Alam. However he died at a young age, leaving an heir and legacy of enormous ruling power. Its main enemy, both in the military and in trade, is the European power in the Straits of Malacca. The Ruler of Aceh after his death had to deal with the Dutch colonialists who are interested in tin mining in the state of Perak in the Malay Peninsula. Perak at the time was under the auspices of Aceh. The main goal of this paper is to review the role and authority of the ruler of Aceh and Perak, when dealing with a Dutch ploy to monopolize the quarry. This study uses a qualitative method, with a fully literature approach. Based on the data analyzed, it was found that the Queen of Aceh and the Sultan of Perak managed to maintain the tin in Perak, from completely monopolized by the Dutch. The attitude of Queen of Aceh, and Sultan Perak's patience and diplomacy to treat the ills of the Dutch; finally resulted in the Dutch themselves have to bear the losses because of their greed by blockading the port of Aceh and Perak, who angered local merchants and foreigners.

Abstract

The field of personality is often became a concern to psychologists who want to look at human behavior both from positive and negative angles. In other words, personality has a relationship with behavioral development potential. Personality has a direct relationship with the field of psychology. One of the most important definitions of personality is individual differences according to characteristic patterns such as thoughts, feelings and actions. Personality traits are biological while personality values are environmental products influenced by culture, education and life. In the study of modern psychology, thought-based traits that are in the cognitive domain are higher than emotional traits in relation to values. In the tradition of Islamic science, there is a special traits, which is the yardstick of superior personality; that is, Al-‘Adalah or is called adil (fairness). Related to the trait of adil is the trait of dhabit (strong memory). A qualitative study using this library approach seeks to trace the properties possessed by hadith scholars, who once inspired the West to apply those attributes in their intellectual work. Studies have found that these properties have unique characteristics because of their ability to integrate ontological, epistemological and axiological dimensions and also balance the role of cognitive and affective domains in human beings that direct human physiological and psychological behavior in a positive direction. In conclusion, the development of good potential will result in an authoritative and noble personality.

Abstract

The study of positive psychology was first introduced by the American psychologist Seligman in the early 2000s. Included in this study is the role of parents in instilling positive emotions and character strength to children. In addition to parents, teachers also play a role in developing positive psychological behaviors, especially in terms of motivation. This study focuses on the research of Imam Al-Bukhari, a great figure in the field of hadith in the context of whether the family and the education system in his time has had a great influence on his character and psychological behavior to succeed as a leading figure in the field of hadith. This qualitative pattern study successfully finds spiritual function, in triggering internal motivations that can be harnessed for the strengthening of positive character and emotions in the field of modern psychology.

Abstract

Modern psychology tends to study human development in a negative way; whereas the scope of research in positive human development should be taken into account. For the purpose of psychological development, the field of Sufi education needs to be considered. The four most important subjects in Sufi education are faith, worship, customs and virtue, all four of which are key factors in the purification of the soul. In modern times, human life tends to be based on the philosophy of socio-capitalism; which has made the human lifestyle increasingly materialistic-hedonistic. As a result, crime and mental illness increase. Sufi education appears to be very relevant in addressing issues of material progress and social relations. This is because humans as unique beings need not only material things, but spirituality as well where both require balance. Through commitment and the Sufi exercises, the human potential is able to move towards positive instead of negative. But one thing to note for further study is the self-disclosure (tajalli) process in Sufi thought; which is very abstract at its height. Therefore, the measure of knowing the level of happiness is very speculative. Qualitative research is needed to determine the appropriate size.
