Abstract

In today's industrial landscape, companies must enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and sustainability while integrating traditional Lean manufacturing principles with Industry 4.0 technologies like IoT, AI, and data analytics. Despite the potential benefits, there is a significant gap in understanding and implementing Lean 4.0. The Lean 4.0 Workshop aims to provide a comprehensive and practical understanding of how Lean principles can be integrated with Industry 4.0 technologies to enhance industrial performance and sustainability. The event, held at Pusat Industri Digital (PIDI) 4.0, attracted representatives from many notable companies. This paper focuses on the benefits this event provides to the community. The workshop presentations disseminate ongoing research as well as theoretical and practical concepts in various areas of Lean 4.0. The exhibition of industrial tools and processes allows participants to become more familiar with advanced technologies and their practical applications. Considering the event's performance, the Lean 4.0 workshop was a success, with over 80 participants showing great interest and actively participating, along with effective and efficient knowledge sharing. Based on the satisfaction survey, 42.9% of respondents were very satisfied with the workshop, and 64.3% found it met their expectations, though not to the fullest extent.

Abstract

Achieving optimal fertilizer mixing is crucial for farmers, as it directly affects product quality, homogeneity, and overall production efficiency. However, the exact degree of mixing uniformity remains uncertain due to the lack of TDS meters or sensors in the field. This research aims to compare the performance of a novel paddle and PBT-4 impeller while generating empirical data that can serve as a reference for mixing NPK fertilizers. The findings will help farmers to determine the appropriate mixer and optimal mixing duration. The Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) approach was employed to develop and implement the proposed mixing impellers. Comparative analysis indicates that the novel paddle outperforms the PBT-4 impeller in mixture homogeneity, as evidenced by its lower Coefficient of Variation (COV) of 0.00163 compared to 0.0229. No significant difference was observed in the time required to reach steady ppm or settling time. Ppm is a crucial parameter for assessing mixing uniformity and product quality. While both the Paddle and 4-blade PBT exhibited similar mixing times, the Paddle demonstrated slightly superior performance in achieving uniformity.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company that produces electrical components, they make a product based on an engineer to order (ETO). PT. XYZ find the changeover time in the testing process is very high and still follow the time in the old factory. The focus of this research is to reduce changeover time and standardize the process. In this research, Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) is a method that used in order to reduce the changeover time. Started by observing the entire changeover process from the process after the panel is tested on Post F to loading a new panel for testing on Post F. Suggested improvement proposals that can be made immediately will be implemented directly in the process. For the internal process, the improvement activities carried out are to make the activities run parallel. Then, for external activities, the improvement activities carried out are to make the activities run in parallel and change the work procedures at Post F. Through 5S implementation will improve the speed changeover process. Through this improvement it can reduce the change over time by 54% and increase the number of panels that can be tested to 6 panels per work shift.  PT.

Abstract

Clean energy sources have become more and more important in the present time, especially with the goal to reduce the production of greenhouse gases. There are various clean energy sources available, and care must also be taken into which clean energy source is more prevalent in which location. Furthermore, with the multiple alternatives for such clean sources, a method has to be developed to choose the best one, and, if possible, have it optimized to produce the best performance. It is also good if the method developed only requires theories without any need of practical applications in real life (although this is strongly encouraged). This paper will show the utilization of a decision-making tool, namely the analytic hierarchy process, to decide the best energy source and which components are important and then conducts the optimization process through whale optimization algorithm. The research will then conclude with the best energy source chosen in its optimized state. It is hoped that this research will open a gateway into determining which energy sources to use digitally without any recourse to incurring costs on its way.
