Abstract

Objectives: This study investigates GeoGebra implementation patterns and identifies facilitators and barriers to adoption among Greek secondary mathematics teachers using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 82 secondary mathematics teachers in Western Greece was conducted during June-July 2023 (87.7% response rate), using a validated questionnaire to assess actual usage, perceived usefulness, ease of use, and attitudes toward implementation across four mathematical domains. Findings: Results revealed an implementation paradox: low actual usage (M = 2.21) despite positive attitudes (M = 3.53) and recognized usefulness (M = 3.42). Domain-specific variation showed moderate Geometry implementation (M = 2.77) versus very low Statistics adoption (M = 1.77). Regression analysis explained 40.1% of the variance in usage through Ease of Use (β = 0.360) and Attitude (β = 0.281). B2-level ICT certification emerged as a critical threshold for implementation success. Novelty: This study introduces the Contextual Implementation Cascade Framework (CICF), which explains multi-level barriers to educational technology adoption and demonstrates that positive attitudes cannot overcome systemic infrastructural and institutional barriers without comprehensive professional development.

Abstract

Objectives: The goal of this paper is to address the issues that arose because of the exclusion of law offenders in the Greek Correctional Institutions from second chance education during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period, the offenders were deprived of their right to equal access to second-chance education since the pandemics blocked mobility and close contact with teaching personnel. Methods/Analysis: In this paper, we propose a framework based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) that will be deployed to evaluate the acceptance of the CILMS by the learners in Correctional Institutions. We describe a methodology and a set of hypotheses that can reveal the intention of learners to use the system based on several factors, such as trust, perception of privacy, perception of usefulness, and perception of self-efficacy. Findings: We suggest that eLearning and limited Internet access should be added to the list of fundamental human rights for CI detainees as well, in order to counteract their separation from physical society. Inmates are still individuals. In fact, they should be placed in solitary confinement as prescribed by the law. Novelty/Improvement:This viewpoint has been demonstrated with the development and evaluation of acceptance by inmates through the TAM technology acceptance methodology, as well as the proposal of a generic privacy-preserving Web information and services access model for CIs that can, at the same time, provide sufficient information access freedom while respecting the restrictions that should be imposed on such an access for CI inmates. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2022-SIED-017 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

Objectives: In education, neuroscience is an interdisciplinary research field. It seeks to improve educational practice by applying brain research findings. Additional findings from the scientific fields of education, psychology, and neurophysiology aim to enhance the learning process and improve educational practices. The application of neuroscience to education involves neuroscientific and psychological knowledge. Methods/Analysis: In this systematic literature review, the final studies included in the analysis table are decided by searching databases according to predefined inclusion criteria. The PRISMA approach was utilized to study the relationship between neuroscience and the educational process and to optimize the educational process based on the relevant data. Findings: The review's findings emphasize the significance of integrating neuroscience into educational praxis and challenges and raise ethical concerns regarding its implementation in educational contexts. Novelty /Improvement: The discipline of educational neuroscience is associated with education, research, and the cognitive neuroscience of learning. Neuroscience can serve as the basis for education in a similar direction that biology serves as the basis for medicine, meaning that each field retains its innovation but cannot contravene the rules of the other.
