Abstract

This study aims to increase active questioning and learning outcomes of class IX C students by using the Make a Match learning model. This is classroom action research carried out in three cycles. Each cycle has various stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The Make a Match learning model has been proven to increase students' active questioning and learning outcomes. It is indicated by the learning outcomes data in the Cycle I with details of the highest score of 100, the lowest score of 49, the average score of 69.65, and the completeness score of 66.67%. In the Cycle II, the learning outcomes data show the highest score is 100, the lowest score is 69, the average score is 92.95, and the completeness score is 82.80%. Furthermore, in Cycle III, the data exemplify that the highest score is 100, the lowest score is 61, the average score is 86.21, and the completeness score is 89.66 %. These points indicate that the use of the Make a Match learning model can improve the active questioning and the learning outcomes of class IX C students of SMP N 7 Purwokerto in the first semester of the academic year 2014/2015.

Abstract

Latar belakang masalah penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam menganalisis penyimpangan sosial, sebanyak 21 orang (60%) peserta didik kelas VIII B SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto mengalami kesulitan menganalisis penyimpangan sosial. Kondisi tersebut berdampak pada rendahnya pencapaian hasil belajar peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran mata pelajaran IPS serta untuk mengetahui peningkatan peserta didik dalam menganalisis penyimpangan sosial melalui pembelajaran dengan teknik “SAD” pada peserta didik kelas VIII B SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melalui penerapan teknik “SAD” dalam pembelajaran IPS dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menganalisis penyimpangan sosial peserta didik dalam berbagai aktivitas belajar. Penerapan pembelajaran IPS dengan Teknik “SAD” materi pranata dan penyimpangan sosial berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar siswa setelah melaksanakan tes akhir siklus II. Kemampuan siswa dalam merasionalkan nilai positif yang dapat ‘dipetik’ dari hasil analisis kasus penyimpangan sosial pada siklus II juga meningkat, yaitu mencapai 80%. Peserta didik dapat memberikan respon positif dalam berbagai aktivitas belajar melalui diskusi kelompok dengan tingkat partisipasi mencapai 77, 1%. Dengan tercapainya ketiga indikator kinerja yang telah ditentukan, maka siklus penelitian tindakan kelas ini dihentikan.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) Determine the feasibility of social studies subject modules; (2) Knowing the responses of teachers and students after using the Inquiry-Based HOTS-Oriented Social Studies Learning Module; and (3) Knowing the effectiveness of using the Inquiry-Based HOTS-Oriented Social Studies Learning Module. This type of research is development research (Research and Development) with the following steps: 1) potential and problems, 2) data collection, 3) product design, 4) design validation, 5) design revision, 6) product trials, 8) usage trials, 9) product revisions and, 10) mass production. The subject of the study was a class VIII student of SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto. The data collection techniques used are interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed by qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The effectiveness test was carried out with pretest experiments-posttest control group design. The results showed that the expert assessment of the module showed that the module was feasible to use with a percentage of 75% valid, while the effectiveness test with an n-gain value showed an effective category of 0.5502 > 0.07. Thus, the IPS module is worth using.
