Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to improve the ability to do addition and subtraction counting operations using the demonstration method and stick cut media for 1st semester students of SDN 26 Simanindo Sangkal in 2020/2021. The research was carried out using stages in Classroom Action Research, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The research was carried out in two cycles. Based on the description of the implementation of the action, the results of the research, and discussion, it was obtained that there was an increase in the ability to do calculations in each cycle. The ability in pre-cycle 42% increased 23% to 65% in cycle I and increased in cycle II by 18% which reached 83%. The conclusion is that through the demonstration method and the stick cut media can improve the ability to do addition and subtraction calculations in mathematics learning in grade I SDN 26 Simanindo Sangkal in semester 1 of the 2020/2021 school year. Keywords: addition; demonstration; stick cut; subtraction  Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mengerjakan operasi hitung penjumlahan dan pengurangan menggunakan metode demonstrasi dan media potongan lidi pada siswa kelas 1 semester 1 SDN 26 Simanindo Sangkal Tahun 2020/2021. Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan tahapan-tahapan dalam Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi.Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus,.Berdasarkan deskripsi pelaksanaan tindakan, hasil penelitian, dan pembahasan, diperoleh data adanya peningkatan kemampuan mengerjakan hitung dalam setiap siklus. Kemampuan pada pra siklus 42% meningkat 23% menjadi 65% pd siklus I dan meningkat pada siklus II sebanyak 18% yaitu mencapai 83%. Kesimpulan bahwa melalui metode demonstrasi dan media potongan lidi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mengerjakan hitung penjumlahan dan pengurangan pada pembelajaran matematika di kelas I SDN 26 Simanindo Sangkal  semester 1 tahun pelajaran 2020/2021. Kata Kunci: demonstrasi; penjumlahan; pengurangan; potongan lidi
