Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the polymorphism and morphometric patterns of sago beetles that live on sago plants. This research used sago trees that had been cut down and pheromone traps by taking samples of sago beetles trapped in Rutong Village, South Leitimur District, Ambon Municipality. A descriptive method was used by identifying sago beetles through observing color polymorphism and morphometric characters. The results showed that in Rutong villagee there were 2 types of species found based on the shape of the color pattern, namely Rynchophorus bilineatus which has 3 color patterns on the pronotal part which characterizes R. bilineatus, namely: 1) the pronotal is dark black without any red color, 2) the pronotal black with a flat red pattern on the pronotal apex, 3) a dotted red pattern running along the middle of the pronotal and Rynchophorus vulneratus has 1 solid red pattern running along the pronotal. The morphometric characteristics shown in the body length of R. bilineatus is 30.05-30.55 mm and this is smaller than the body length of R. vulneratus, which is 32.32-37.35 mm.

Abstract

The research aims to identify the types of natural enemy insects of cocoa fruit borer pests and analyze the diversity index and calculate the index of dominance of natural enemy insects in cocoa cultivation (Theobroma cacao L.) in Mamala and Hila Villages, Leihitu district, Central Maluku regency. Random sample method with sampling techniques with certain criteria (cocoa plants that have borne fruit). Each village was taken 3 farmers then each farmer determined 3 sample plots with a plot size of 20 x 20 m2 then determined 3 sample crops. Insect catching uses 4 traps namely sweep net, pit fall traps, yellow traps, and leaf traps. The dataanalyzed in the form of qualitative data is the type of insects found and quantitative data, namely the diversity index and the dominance index. Based on the results of the study obtained the results of the study obtained 5 orders and 9 Families that have the potential as natural enemies, namely the Order Hymenoptera, Dermaptera, Ortopthera, Diptera and Ordo Coleoptera while the Families found are the Family Formicidae, Chelisochidae, Carcinophoridae, Forficulidae, Mantidae, Dolichopodidae, Stratiomydae, Coccinelidae, and the Family Chrysomelidae. The natural enemy diversity index in mamala village cocoa plantation (0.0771) and Hila (0.0884) is low and the dominance index in Mamala (0.97600557) and Hila (0.97362747) is high

Abstract

Stingless bees have an important role, namely as a potential pollinator for increasing the production of various plants, as well as producing honey and propolis. This study aims to obtain species diversity, morphological characters, morphometric characteristics of stingless bees and descriptions of types of nesting stingers. It was carried out from March to May 2021. Observations of the morphological characters of the worker strata included: body color, thorax, mesoscutum, mesoscutellum, propodeum, abdomen, forewing color, number of hammuli, posterior hair of the back tibia, and elliptical disc on the inside of the back basitarsus. While the morphometric strata of workers measured were: body length, head width, head length, eye width, malar space length, second flagellomere width, long wingspan and tegula, back tibia width, back basitarsus width. Observations of stingless beehives include: hive height, nest location/material, entry length and diameter, entrance color and texture. The results of the study of the stingless bee species found in Leihitu District were T. clypearis, and in Salahutu District were T. clypearis and T. fuscobalteata. The morphological character of the species of T. clypearis is the body has a brownish black color with a size of 3.36-3.56 mm, the belly color is blackish brown. Species T. fuscobalteata dominant body brownish black with a body size of 2.78-3.24 mm brownish yellow belly color. Description of the nest of T. clypearis species, namely: nest height 26-219 cm, entrance brown and black, hard and soft structure, entrance hole length 0.3-7 cm, diameter 0.3-4 cm. Types of nesting T. fuscobalteata were: nesting height 160-193 cm, entrance brown, hard and soft structure, entrance length 0.8-1.3 cm, diameter 0.3-1.2 cm. With nesting substrates namely wood, stone and iron.
