Abstract

                                                  ABSTRACT     This research entitled “Figurative Language in The Song Lyric of the Album You by James Arthur. It is to identify, classify, analyze, and describe the forms and the meanings of figurative language in the song lyric by James Arthur’s You album. In analysing the data, the writer used theory based on Hurford, et. al. (2007) to identifying classifying the forms of figurative language and Gibbs R.W., et. al. (2012) theory in analysing and describe the meaning of figurative language as a part of descriptive method. The data were taken from the James Arthur’s You album. The form of figurative language that founded in the James Arthur’s You album, such as idiom, metaphor, personification and metonymy. The meanings that were found varied according to each form of figurative language that found from the song lyrics on the You album.Keywords: figurative language, Forms and Meanings, The Song Lyric by James Arthur’s
