Abstract

Indonesia and Timor Leste have the same land area; these countries are located on Timor Island. It encourages interaction between regions, which can have positive or negative impacts. The adverse effects of the two countries' interaction must be minimized by formulating a strategy for developing border areas, especially village areas that directly border neighboring countries. This research aims to identify rural border communities' social and economic interactions and formulate development strategies for rural border areas in the Malaka and Belu Regencies. This research uses a qualitative research approach. The data collected includes a description of the social and cultural interactions carried out by rural communities and factual conditions that constitute strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities in developing rural border areas. The analysis results explain that the interactions between rural borders include socio-cultural and economic interactions in trade activities. The strategy for developing rural border areas is to increase defense and security and maintain social cohesion in border areas; strengthen local potential in each village; encourage rural economic activities (BUMDes or Cooperatives) to grow and develop, and export rustic products; form clusters in rural border areas with the same potential; strengthening cooperation networks with higher education, the private sector and non-governmental institutions in improving and developing rural border areas; strengthening rural economic activities with rural border markets; increasing rural community participation in border area maintenance efforts; as well as improving access to basic infrastructure, in particular electricity, roads, water and telecommunications.

Abstract

Economic growth is now a benchmark for regional development. High regional economic growth will ensure the prosperity of the people living in the area. The economic growth of East Bolaang Mongondow Regency grows every year but has slowed down due to the lack of maximization of other sectors besides mining and agriculture. The research was conducted to identify the basic sectors or areas favored by East Bolaang Mongondow Regency, as well as to determine the most effective strategy to increase the existing economic potential. The research was conducted using quantitative methods with a descriptive approach. For analysis techniques, researchers used LQ analysis, Shift Share analysis, and SWOT analysis. The results of the study show that there are 3 basic or leading sectors in East Bolaang Mongondow Regency, these three sectors contribute the most each year compared to other sectors. To encourage economic growth, the government must take more initiative in optimizing the potential of the region by implementing better development programs in accordance with regional conditions, so that the leading sectors can encourage the development of non leading sectors

Abstract

According to Peraturan Daerah (PERDA) Belitung Timur Regenc Number 4 of 2021, the regional government has prepared regulations regarding Sustainable Food Agricultural Land Protection (PLP2). This regulation was prepared as an effort to protect land quality to avoid land degradation, land conversion and increase agricultural production capacity in Belitung Regency. The aim of this research is to identify leading and promising commodities in East Belitung Regency as well as the supporting capacity for implementing green infrastructure that supports agricultural and agribusiness activities. The method used in this research is a mix method, namely to identify superior agricultural commodities in the East Belitung region and to analyze the level of performance of green infrastructure in the agricultural and agribusiness sectors in East Belitung Regency. The results of this research are that the management of agriculture and plantations managed by local communities in East Belitung Regency still faces many obstacles, including weak production and distribution, inadequate human resources to support the improvement of agriculture and agribusiness activities, and uneven provision of infrastructure to support development. sustainable agriculture. Gantung District, which is included in the PLP2B area, has experienced a decline in prospectivity in the five agribusiness sectors that are its basis due to the conversion of agricultural land to mining over the last four years. Based on the Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) approach, the physical indicators, namely green streets and retention ponds, are in Quadrant III, meaning that in terms of availability they already exist in several locations which can be of benefit to the community even though they do not fully meet environmentally friendly aspects. Meanwhile, the indicator of improving physical and social well-being is an indicator that achieves low results, due to the resource capabilities of farmers.
