Abstract

Anemia is a condition where the hemoglobin level in the blood is lower than the normal value. Adolescent girls are a group at risk of anemia. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls at Madrasah Aliyah Bahrul Mubarak Toronipa. This type of research is quantitative research with an observational analytic method and a cross-sectional approach. This study used a total sampling technique with a sample size of 60 female students. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test The results showed that the incidence of anemia was 36.7%, iron intake in the deficit category was 43.3%, consumption patterns of inhibitors in the frequent category were 48.3%, and consumption patterns of enhancers in the rare category were 53.3%. The results of statistical tests using the chi-square test showed that the factors associated with the incidence of anemia were iron intake (p = 0.032), iron inhibitor consumption patterns (p = 0.009), and iron enhancer consumption patterns (p = 0.043). The conclusion in this study is that the factors associated with the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls at Madrasah Aliyah Bahrul Mubarak Toronipa are iron intake and consumption patterns of iron inhibitors and enhancers. It is recommended that the school increase the prevention of anemia by working with the Snearest health center in the form of education and giving blood supplement tablets. Respondents are expected to pay more attention to iron intake and enhancer consumption patterns and not consume inhibitor sources less than 1 hour before or after meals.

Abstract

Energy intake is derived from consuming macronutrients: energy adequacy and balance influence nutritional status. This quantitative research examined the correlation between energy intake and the nutritional status of final-year students at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Halu Oleo. Analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach were employed to analyze the data obtained from 85 students who were sampled using the stratified random sampling. Energy intake data was collected through direct interviews using the semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), as well as height and weight measurements. Bivariate analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank correlation test with α = 0.05. The results showed that energy intake was positively associated with nutritional status (p=0.000, r=0.491). Based on the results of this research, students must ensure the adequacy of their nutrient intake to achieve ideal nutritional status.

Abstract

Dyspepsia is a syndrome of symptoms often found among the public characterized by pain or discomfort in the upper part of the solar plexus, nausea, bloating, belching, feeling full quickly, and feeling full in the stomach. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of dyspepsia in hospitalized patients at the Aliyah III general hospital in Kendari City. This type of research is quantitative, with an observational analytic method and a cross-sectional approach. This study used an accidental sampling technique with a total sample size of 68 patients. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test the results showed that the incidence of dyspepsia amounted to 58.8%, the level of stress in the severe category was 61.8%, the diet in the poor category was 58.8%, and the nutritional status in the normal category was 88.2%. The results of statistical tests using the chi-square test showed that there was a relationship between stress levels and dyspeptic (p = <0.05), there was a relationship between diet and dyspeptic (p = <0.05), and there was no relationship between nutritional status and dyspeptic (p = >0.05). The conclusion of this study is that the factors associated with the incidence of dyspepsia in hospitalized patients at Aliyah III Hospital in Kendari City are stress levels and diet. It is recommended that the hospital improve health services for patients by providing counseling about dyspepsia.

Abstract

The nutritional intake of pregnant women is a critical factor that supports the fetal growth and physiological requirements during the pregnancy. Adequate nutrition can be fulfilled by consuming diversified diet. This research was performed to assess the diversity of dietary intake among pregnant women in Marobo Public Health Center, Muna Regency, in 2024. This quantitative research was carried out using a descriptive observational design, involving 64 pregnant women selected using proportional sampling technique. The data of this research were gathered through interviews and questionnaires, including data on maternal age, gestational age, and dietary diversity. A 24-hour recall method and the Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women (MDD-W) were employed to assess the food diversity. The findings revealed that 50 participants (78.1%) had non-diverse diets, while 14 participants (21.9%) consumed a diverse range of foods. The diversified dietary intake among pregnant women should be enhanced in order to ensure adequate nutritional intake.

Abstract

Chronic energy deficiency (CED) is a nutritional condition caused by long-term inadequate energy intake. In pregnant women, CED can lead to significant health complications for both the mother and the fetus. CED is assessed by measuring the upper arm circumference, with values less than 23.5 cm indicating deficiency. This research was performed to examine the prevalence of CED among pregnant women in the work area of Kandari Health Center from January to April 2023. This quantitative research was administered using the descriptive survey approach, involving 96 pregnant women who attended antenatal check-ups during the specified period. The findings revealed that 19 pregnant women (19.8%) experienced CED, where 11 women (11.5%) were under the high-risk age category. Significant nutritional status issues among pregnant women were identified, as evidenced by the prevalence of chronic energy deficiency (CED) and the presence of pregnancies in high-risk age groups. Effective strategies are required to enhance maternal nutrition, including increasing awareness among pregnant women about the importance of quality food intake and providing supplementary food to mitigate nutritional deficiencies.
