Abstract

Meat is one of animal protein sources and is widely consumed by the community, especially in the Karo Regency area. This research aims to identify the characteristics of marketing agencies, marketing channels, marketing margin, farmer share, and pork marketing efficiency in the traditional market of Karo Regency. The method used in data collection is the withdrawal of samples of dilution traders using purposive sampling methods, while samples of breeders and other marketing agencies by tracing methods, data collection is done by interview techniques using questionnaires. Data analysis includes marketing costs, marketing margins, and farmer shares of each marketing channel. The results of this study show that there are two marketing channels namely level I marketing channels consisting of merchants and breeders while level II marketing channels consist of breeders, agents, and retailers. The smallest marketing margin is obtained by the first marketing channel. The largest farmer share was acquired by the first channel. This channel only uses retailer merchants as intermediaries. In this study, both marketing channels are already efficient.

Abstract

Obstacles faced in the development of sheep are the lack of sheep going. One of the technologies that can be utilized to increase the population of cattle, sheep is to use artificial insemination, estrus observation on sheep but hard to do, for it needs to be done using the estrus synchronization Prostaglandin F2α. The success of the estrus synchronization program is one of them influenced by parity. The aim of this research was to know the extent of the success rate of the synchronization estrus of thin-tail Sheep range of parity by administering Prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α). The material used on these research Prostaglandin F2α  (PGF2α), a ewe, first child, second child and third child of  thin sail Sheep. Experimental design used in the study was a randomized Complete Design (RAL) non factorial by 4 the treatment and 5 repeated. The treatment given is the wearing of Prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) Thin-tailed Sheep to a ewe, first child, second child and third child of  Thin Tail Sheep. Parameters observed is the success rate of synchronization of estrus. The results showed that administering prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) Thin-tailed Sheep to females of different real parity has no effect (P > 0.05) of the success rate of synchronization of estrus. It could be concluded that the thin-tailed sheep of parity which examined did not have an effect on the success of the synchronization of estrus with Prostaglandin F2α uses (PGF2α).

Abstract

The fresh semen evaluation is very important for stallion before doing artificial insemination. This study aims to determine the quality of semen of the stallion in Deli Serdang regency and semen test at the Regional Artificial Insemination Center, North Sumatera in August-September 2017. This study was conducted on 10 male stallions aged 2-4 years in the district. then the data in show in the form of descriptive. The results showed that in macroscopic test the color of cement is white gray, consistency  is watery, pH equal to 6,7 ± 0,48. In motility microscopic test (M%) of 69 ± 0.1, concentrations of 134.5 ± 0.94 x 107 / ml, and sperm condition 80% normal. Based on motility (M%) and concentration of semen quality with progressive spermatozoa movement and concentration of 134.5 million / ml of good horse to be superior male.
