Abstract

Education is a source of character formation in humans. Education does not only teach about science but also instills life values ​​which are indicators of the usefulness of a science. Wetu Telu as a philosophy of life in the people of Sapit to this day still adheres to the principles of the Wetu Telu philosophy, namely by obeying parents, obeying teachers, and obeying leaders. These three things are the basic concepts in the Wetu Telu philosophy which must be the principles for maintaining harmony both with oneself and among others. In education, these three things become a unity that supports each other as a forum for developing character and knowledge

Abstract

Penelitian  ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi peran orang tua dalam penerapan falsafah Wetu Telu sebagai dasar penguatan moral dalam pendidikan di Desa Sapit. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan wawancara mendalam dan observasi terhadap sejumlah orang tua, tokoh adat, dan pendidik di desa tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa orang tua di Desa Sapit berfungsi sebagai pendidik utama yang menerapkan prinsip-prinsip Wetu Telu, yakni kesadaran spiritual, sosial, dan ekologis, dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Pembentukan moral anak tidak hanya dilakukan melalui nasihat, tetapi lebih pada contoh langsung yang diberikan oleh orang tua dalam rutinitas kehidupan mereka. Ajaran Wetu Telu menjadi pondasi dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai seperti kedamaian, kejujuran, rasa tanggung jawab, serta keharmonisan dengan alam. Oleh karena itu, penguatan peran orang tua dalam mendidik anak dengan landasan kearifan lokal Wetu Telu diyakini dapat menciptakan generasi yang tidak hanya cerdas secara intelektual, tetapi juga memiliki karakter yang kokoh dan berkepribadian luhur.

Abstract

This study analyzes the use of local culture in education in Sapit Village which has great potential in education, but has not been optimal or has not been documented. The purpose of this study is to explore the extent which the local culture of Sapit Village is utilized in education, and what strategies are used by schools and communities in integrating it into the learning process. The method in this study uses a qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation methods with respondents consisting of students, traditional leaders and parents. Data analysis uses data reduction, data display and data verification, and to obtain data validity using the data triangulation method. The results of this study indicate that local culture in Sapit Village such as nyongkolan, gendang beleq, begawe, use the Sasak language have great potential to be integrated into formal education, both in terms of learning materials, methods, and values ​​​​that are instilled and contain elements of character education, life skills, and socio-cultural insights that are very important for students. In its utilization, this local culture has begun to be applied on a limited basis, but not yet optimally.
