Abstract

This study aims to determine the responses and learning outcomes of class XI IPA 3 SMA Negeri 2 Denpasar after implementing the Guided inquiry teaching method by utilizing mathematics learning media. This type of research is classroom action research (PTK). CAR is designed using several cycles consisting of four stages, namely: planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The subjects of this study were 36 class XI IPA 3 students of SMA Negeri 2 Denpasar in the 2019/2020 academic year and the object of this research was student learning after being given learning with guided discovery methods and using visual learning media. Student learning outcomes are said to be successful individually if they have obtained a value of ≥ 70.Students are classically said to have succeeded if 85% of the total students in the class have scored ≥ 70.The results of the analysis are obtained (1) There is an effect of the guided inquiry teaching method using the media learning in mathematics can increase student response. (2) The guided inquiry teaching learning method by utilizing learning media can improve mathematics learning outcomes in class XI IPA 3 students of SMA Negeri 2 Denpasar in the 2019/2020 academic year.

Abstract

Motivation to learn plays a crucial role in achieving learning success in school. Low motivation to learn among students results in low learning outcomes. The Problem-Based Learning model was chosen because it requires students to be active in research and problem-solving processes during learning. This study aims to increase the motivation to learn among class XI IPA 2 students at SMAN 2 Denpasar for the 2023/2024 academic year. The research subjects were 45 students from class XI IPA 2. The study used two cycles with four stages in each cycle: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection was done by distributing questionnaires related to student motivation. The obtained data was then analyzed qualitatively. The pre-cycle motivation to learn among students was 44.02, while the first cycle questionnaire results showed an achieved result with an average of 62.84. Subsequently, the second cycle questionnaire results showed an achieved result with an average of 81.20. Based on the research results, it was found that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model in mathematics learning for class XI IPA 2 students at SMA Negeri 2 Denpasar in the 2023/2024 academic year can increase student motivation.

Abstract

So far, teachers have used a student-centered learning approach, but there are still some teachers who use conventional learning methods which result in low student learning outcomes. The aim of this research is to improve student learning outcomes in mathematics learning through implementing the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in class XI IPA 3 SMAN 2 Denpasar for the 2023/2024 academic year. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. This research was carried out in two cycles and each cycle consisted of 4 stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and evaluation and reflection. Data collection was carried out using observation sheets and learning outcomes tests. The research method uses quantitative descriptive data to determine the percentage of completeness of learning outcomes. The results of the research were that in Cycle I the percentage of students who completed was 63.64% then increased in Cycle II with a completion percentage of 77.27. In this way, there is an increase in student learning outcomes in Mathematics learning by implementing the Teaching at The Right Level (TaRL) approach in class XI IPA 3 SMAN 2 Denpasar for the 2023/2024 academic year.
