Abstract

This research study aimed to develop students' speaking skills in english at MTs Ma'arif Sojokerto which is located in Leksono Village, Wonosobo Regency. The researcher was given this opportunity by the headmaster to visit and observe the school to identify the problems related to this study. The researcher used the Picture-based Storytelling method to overcome students' problems in speaking english by using classroom action research design (CAR). This research consisted of 2 cycles, which each cycle has stages namely planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The sample taken for this study was class VIII at that school. The research instrument had several parts, namely interviews, observations, test results and documentation. The results of observations, and tests increased. The results of the observation, in the pre-cycle amounted to 30%, in cycle 1 amounted to 52% and in cycle 2 amounted to 84%. Then, the results of the test, in the pre-cycle, amounted to 29%, in cycle 1, it amounted to 50% and in cycle 2, it amounted to 75%. The results of the interview test also changed, from the previous class action research conducted, students did not like English lessons to liked English lessons after using this method. From the results obtained by the researcher, it can be concluded that the use of the Picture-based Storytelling method can improve students in speaking english.

Abstract

The importance of selecting learning media is an important support to minimize the ineffectiveness of the classroom atmosphere to be fun and not boring, especially in mastering english vocabulary. This was a CAR with qualitative approach which consists of 4 stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. the sample taken is class XI H at SMA Takhassus AL-Quran. The instruments used in this research namely, observation checklist, test, interview and documentation. The results showed that Canva application based graphic design media can improve students' vocabulary mastery based on checklist observation data increased from 33.7% to 63.7% in cycle I and in cycle 2 to 88.75%. Vocabulary test data increased from an average of 70.7% to 74% in Cycle I and to 86% in Cycle 2. The improvement in the interview can be seen from the responses to each question, which indicate that Canva's application media can increase students' motivation in learning English, especially in mastering English, and is very efficient to use in learning. From the above data, it can be concluded that the use of Canva application based graphic design media can improve students' vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the suggestopedia media in improving students' English vocabulary at Pacarmulyo 1 Elementary School which is located in Jetis Pacarmulyo Village, Wonosobo. The researcher has to visit and observe the school to identify problems related to this research. Researchers used the Suggestopedia method media to overcome students' problems in enriching English vocabulary using a classroom action research (CAR) design. This research consists of 2 cycles, each cycle has stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The sample taken forth is research was class IV. The research instrument are: interviews, observations, test results and documentation. The results of observations and tests increased. Observation results, in cycle 1 it was 56% and in cycle 2 it was 84%. Then the test results in the pre-cycle were 34.1%, in cycle 1 it was 56.9% and in cycle 2 it was 79.3%. The results of the interview test also changed, from the students who did not like English lessons became like after using this method. From the result so obtained by researchers, it can be concluded that using the Suggestopedia method media can improve students' ability to enrich their English vocabulary

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery is crucial for effective communication and understanding in English. In Indonesia, the Merdeka Curriculum promotes student-centered learning and emphasizes creativity and collaboration. However, many students find English challenging and struggle with vocabulary retention. To address this, a motivating approach is needed, such as Cooperative Learning using the Switch Game method. This method fosters group collaboration among students of varying abilities, enhancing interaction and making vocabulary learning enjoyable. The study aims to investigate the Implementation of this approach in improving elementary students' vocabulary mastery and recommendations for educators in designing effective learning strategies. The aim of this research is to explore the implementation of a cooperative learning method using the Switch Game to enrich vocabulary in English learning at the elementary school level. The study will involve various group activities with students of different abilities, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing. Utilizing a quantitative pre-experimental design with pretest and posttest, the sample consists of 12 Student of fifth-grade students at MI GUPPI Sumberwulan,Selomerto. Data will be collected through vocabulary tests conducted before and after the cooperative learning implementation. The teacher's role will be to motivate and provide learning media. Students will participate in the Switch Game within a cooperative environment, making learning enjoyable. The expected outcome is an enrichment of vocabulary and increased motivation and interest in learning through interactive games, encouraging the development of student-centered and collaborative learning methods that enhance student outcomes.

Abstract

This study explores the use of English video learning on Instagram Reels to improve students' vocabulary mastery at SMK Gema Nusantara. Employing a qualitative research method, the study focuses on understanding students’ experiences, perceptions, and challenges when engaging with Instagram Reels as a learning tool. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis involving 15 students selected via purposive sampling. Thematic analysis was applied to identify recurring patterns and insights from the data. The findings indicate that students found Instagram Reels to be an engaging and relatable platform for learning English vocabulary. The visual and auditory elements of short videos helped students retain new words more effectively. Moreover, the interactive and entertaining nature of Instagram Reels increased students’ motivation and reduced anxiety associated with traditional learning methods. However, some challenges, such as internet accessibility and content selection, were noted. The study concludes that Instagram Reels has the potential to enhance vocabulary mastery when thoughtfully integrated into the learning process. Teachers are encouraged to curate or create relevant content and guide students in using digital platforms responsibly to optimize learning outcomes.
