Abstract

The purpose of this study is to answer how signifier and signified are displayed in the film "Till" and what are the representations of racism contained in the film "Till". The data studied is in the form of pieces of images, sounds, text or sounds contained in the film "Till". This study is using Saussure's semiotics. It will help analyse media texts with a set of signs that have various meanings. The result of this study shows that the film "Till" contains acts of racism based on Henry and Tator's theory in the form of Individual Racism and Systemic Racism. This theory is divided from Internalized Racism, Interpersonal Racism, Institutional Racism and Structural Racism. Researchers examine each component of the types of racism such as reactions, associations, perspectives, identity, labelling, stereotypes, separatism, and discrimination.

Abstract

One of the phenomena of fandom fanaticism in Indonesia is the Korean boyband BTS, with fans known as Army. There are several BTS fan communities in Indonesia, one of which is BTS Army Indonesia Animo (BAIA), based in Jogja. This research aims to understand how the identity construction of the Army unfolds within the BAIA Jogja WhatsApp group. The theoretical framework employed is Peter L. Berger's social construction, involving three analytical stages: externalization, objectivation, and internalization. Utilizing virtual ethnography, the study includes interviews with four community members as informants. The researcher also directly observed the WhatsApp group and documented data collection. The findings reveal that Army members began to admire BTS for their handsomeness, easily relatable songs, and captivating stage presence during the externalization process. Each Army member adapted to communicate effectively within the WhatsApp group in the objectivation stage. In the internalization stage, the sense of connection between Army and BTS members is powerful. This bond is so strong that Army members perceive BTS as their boyfriends or husbands. Salah satu fenomena tentang fanatisme fandom di Indonesia adalah boyband dari Korea yang bernama BTS yang memiliki penggemar bernama Army. Di Indonesia, ada beberapa komunitas fans BTS, salah satunya adalah BTS Army Indonesia Animo (BAIA) yang berbasis di Jogja. Penelitian ini ingin mengetahui bagaimana konstruksi identitas Army di WhatsApp grup BAIA Jogja. Teori yang digunakan adalah konstruksi sosial Peter L. Berger dengan tiga tahap analisis yaitu eksternalisasi, objektivasi dan internalisasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode etnografi virtual dengan melakukan wawancara kepada empat informan yang merupakan anggota komunitas. Peneliti juga melakukan pengamatan langsung di WhatsApp grup dan dokumentasi dalam pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam proses eksternalisasi, Army mulai menyukai BTS karena mereka tampan, lagu-lagu mereka mudah untuk didengarkan dan penampilan menarik ketika di panggung. Tahap objektivasi, masing-masing Army harus beradaptasi dengan anggota lain ketika berkomunikasi di WhatsApp grup. Tahap internalisasi, perasaan memiliki antara Army dan anggota BTS sangat kuat. Begitu kuatnya hubungan tersebut, para Army menganggap bahwa anggota BTS adalah pacar atau suami mereka.

Abstract

 This study aims to find out how the discourse of 19th century women in Little Women movie. The analytical method is using critical discourse analysis method of Norman Fairclough's model with three dimensional models, dimensions of text, discourse practice and socio-cultural practice.  The results show that the emerging feminist discourse is liberal feminism.  The text dimension shows that Jo March not wanting to get married, struggling alone, being able to be empowered with his own abilities.  The dimension of discourse practice was not yet able to accept women to appear in public spaces, receive inadequate education and limited employment opportunities.  The socio-cultural practice, the people is still in the patriarchal ideology that dominates every level.

Abstract

Queer adalah salah satu isu yang masih dianggap tabu di Indonesia bahkan sering menjadi kelompok yang terdiskriminasi. Mereka membutuhkan tempat untuk saling menerima sehingga dibutuhkan media sebagai wadah aspirasi. Iqamah (Indonesian Queer Muslims and Allies) adalah komunitas yang dibentuk untuk menciptakan ruang aman beribadah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ruang aman seperti apa yang dibangun Iqamah melalui media aktivisme. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, dokumentasi dan studi pustaka. Teori yang digunakan adalah Media Aktivisme Christian Fuchs untuk menganalisis media-media apa saja yang digunakan Iqamah dalam membangun ruang aman beragama. Hasilnya Iqamah menggunakan Instagram, zoom dan zine sebagai media untuk membuat ruang aman bagi kelompok queer muslim beribadah. Kegiatan yang dilakukan yaitu Ngaji Inklusi dan Kursus seni. Selain itu, Iqamah juga melakukan gerakan sosial perubahan dengan komunitas lain di negara lain seperti Maruf Foundation, Balkan Queer Muslims, Quasa (Singapura), Desi Shia Queer Collective (India), Queer Muslim Network Toronto (Kanada), Queer Muslim Circle, Jummah for All Collective, Queer Muslim of Boston, Utah Queer Muslims, Noor Seattle dan Queer Muslim of Central Texas (Amerika Serikat).
