Abstract

The information system is a very important supporting factor for the development of high school, such as support in information services and data processing. STMIK PPKIA Pradnya Paramita is a campus computer that has the Academic and Student Affairs Administration serving administrative activities such as the manufacture of class schedules, exam schedules, academic calendars, handbooks, student data, the study plan card, the study results card, academic transcripts, test execution middle of the semester, and semester final exams. The Study Plan Card is a means for students to program the desired course in one semester. However, if the student can not study plan card charging directly through the system manually or through computers provided, then the student is automatically declared to stop the study while at the semester . The purpose of this research is to design information systems for mobile phones to facilitate students who can not program a course with a manual system or an existing computer system. The development of academic information system based on Java 2 Platform Micro Edition (J2ME) is expected to improve efficiency and effectiveness of academic services. Keyword :  Java 2 Platform Micro Edition  (J2ME), Academic information system

Abstract

The aftermath of World War II not only impacted the nations competing for power worldwide, but also had significant consequences for countries that were merely pawns in the war. During World War II, much of Asia and Africa were colonized by European powers. Consequently, these nations experienced significant shifts in politics, economics, and other aspects of life. Due to the exploitation of its natural resources by Europe, Africa was more devastated compared to Asia. Despite both positive and negative consequences of the Second World War, one certainty is that African societies had to laboriously work for an extended period to restore every aspect of their lives to ensure their survival in the future. Following the victory of the African National Party in the 1948 elections, South Africa was declared a white-dominated country. People of other races were denied political rights and full citizenship. The practice of Apartheid sparked protests in South Africa and worldwide. Discrimination in education, social, and cultural spheres resulted from Apartheid policies, which were opposed by the black population. Nelson Mandela was one of the prominent figures who fought against Apartheid in South Africa.

Abstract

Agriculture and farmers are sectors and parties affected by climate change. Unfortunately, farmers' knowledge and adaptive capacity are still low due to the limited climate change information that they receive. The development of communication models to strengthen the interaction and flow of information has been very active. However, it has not yet addressed the lack of empowerment and scarcity of farmer participation. Therefore, we need a dialogical, horizontal, participatory communication model with an emphasis on empowerment and farmer participation. This research, using a participatory communication model, aims to see how participatory communication can encourage the empowerment and adaptability of farmers to climate change. This study uses a participatory action research approach with participatory data collection techniques for the Rural Communications Assessment (PRCA). The theory used is participatory communication and social change, which allows farmers and researchers to be equally involved and dialogue to occur. This research demonstrates the fact that participatory communication through a dialogue process can promote common goals and action in dealing with climate change. In addition, this research was also able to increase farmer empowerment, which was marked by changes at the individual farmer and social levels. These changes take the form of strengthening farmers' knowledge, perceptions, and skills related to climate change and adaptation actions and increasing farmer participation in village development planning. Farmers have been able to push the issue of strengthening farmer resilience to become part of the village development plan.
