Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate a serial picture learning media to improve writing skills of fourth-grade students in Indonesian language learning. This study used a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model. The research was conducted at MIN 12 Medan City with 25 fourth-grade students consisting of 13 male and 12 female students. Data were collected using questionnaires for material experts, media experts, teachers, and students to assess validity and practicality. Pre-test and post-test instruments were used to measure the effectiveness of the learning media in improving students' writing skills. The validation results showed that the serial picture learning media was highly feasible, with a score of 92% from material experts and 95% from media experts. Teacher practicality assessment reached 91.5%, while student practicality assessment reached 93.38%, both categorized as very practical. The effectiveness test showed a result of 85.5%, indicating that the media was effective in improving students' writing skills. The serial picture learning media developed in this study is valid, practical, and effective for use in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level. This study was limited to one class and involved a small number of students, so the results cannot be generalized broadly. This study contributes to the development of instructional media in elementary education, particularly in Indonesian language learning. It provides practical guidance for teachers in using serial picture media to improve students' writing skills.
