Abstract

History, although in basic understanding seems to talk about something that has passed, actually save a lot of lessons. This paper departs from a character's study of Muhammad Ali Pasha who made many innovations in the field of Islamic education. He was found as a person who has a unique side, namely his personality who has no history of education in childhood because of the pressure of life but grew as a leader who made many innovations. Some innovations that can be called are its policy of putting the government as the center that develops education itself. Another innovation is the ongoing traditional and modern educational activities together so that the scientific scope is separated from the dichotomous aspects. Muhammad Ali Pasha was also noted as a leader who paid attention to the development and expansion of the education area so as to bring in European teachers to be able to take their expertise and practice in the Egyptian region, besides sending Egyptian youth to study in other regions to become cadres in the realm he wanted to grow and develop. Even so, it does not mean that Muhammad Ali Pasha's contribution and contribution in educational innovation can be swallowed up to be realized in Islamic educational institutions. More in-depth assessment of aspects, content and impacts that have been carried out to take what is needed and leave what is not needed.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan menguraikan korelasi dan koneksi antara pendidikan dan peradaban sebagai dua konsep yang saling berkelindan dalam narasi sejarah Islam klasik. Pendidikan Islam diketahui punya kedudukan istimewa dalam pembentukan peradaban Islam, dan sebaliknya, peradaban Islam punya kontribusi besar dalam keberhasilan penyelenggaraan pendidikan Islam. Melalui pendekatan sejarah (historical approach), tulisan ini bukan hanya menukil kembali kenangan manis terkait golden age yang pernah ada, melainkan juga menegaskan urgensi keberadaan pendidikan Islam dalam membentuk kerangka peradaban. Begitu juga sebaliknya, menekankan fungsi peradaban yang sangat penting dalam keberhasilan penyelenggaraan pendidikan Islam.

Abstract

Discourses on hadith in the Prophet’s time and His companions are important in initiating study ulum al-hadith. This is because one of the function of hadith as the explanatory verses of the Koran. This article will try to elaborate some approaches of library research in ulum al-hadith (1) How the companions received, memorized applied those hadith in their life. (2) Commands and prohibitions were not generalized to all companions in writing hadith. (3) The maintenance of hadits at the companions era from lost and also from mingled with Qur’an. (4) Distributed those hadith to the vast area of Islam at the time (5) All narrators of hadith to be agreed by scholars as good people and behavior. (6) there were some criteria of fairness for companions (‘adālah al-ṣaḥābah), namely, Muslims, maturity, intelligent, piety, selfrespect, avoiding him self from cases of fasiq, to be acknowledge their fairness, and free from criticism of scholars.
