Abstract

A wedding sermon is essential in walimatul ursy (wedding reception) because it contains valuable marital messages for building a family based on Islamic values, for not only the couple but also the ones attending the occasion. Meanwhile, some different comprehensions about building a family may occur, including husband and wife roles in a family or decision for taking polygamy or monogamy. This paper aims to describe Gus Miftah’s da’wah messages during Atta and Aurel’s wedding sermon. It uses qualitative descriptive method, literature review as data-collecting method, and Teun A. Van Dijk’s discourse analysis as analytical method. In its macrostructure analysis, a husband should maintain his household to reach tranquillity. Some ways to settle domestic affairs are by giving in to each other, accepting strength and shortcomings and forgiving one another. Those messages are delivered in an arrangement of introduction, content and closing remarks. In its microstructure analysis, a husband should venerate his wife by providing a basic subsistence and respecting her opinion in taking a decision. Gus Miftah emphasizes background of meaning more than its detail, syntactic aspect for coherent causality, and usages of statements, interrogatives, and imperatives. And he also uses intonation and metaphor as means of delivery.

Abstract

The Song is a narrative literary work, as well as an effective communication medium. That’s because song can express notions and feelings and can last a long time. Not infrequently, songs are used as a means for musicians to convey da'wah messages. However, sometimes the language used by musicians does not always express explicit but implicit intentions, such as the Letto song "Sandaran Hati". To explore the implicit meaning holistically, this study uses Dilthey's hermeneutic analysis. Dilthey's typical hermeneutic analysis is to examine the erlebnis (living experience) and ausdruck (expression) aspects, to find a deep and objective verstehen (understanding) of the text made by the subject. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative method with literature study data collection and look-note analysis method. The findings of the study found that there are several hablumminallah concepts to be conveyed in the lyrics of Letto's song "Sandaran Hati", such as 1) Humans as servants of Allah who are equipped with thoughts and feelings in carrying out life in the world; 2) One of the duties of humans as a servant is to be a human being who is beneficial to those around him; 3) when humans experience problems in life both in the world and about religion, they can ask for Allah's guidance.

Abstract

The discussion of Papua conflict with all sorts of controversy has always captured the attention and sparked the response of many, ranging from the complexity of the underlying problem, international world intervention, gun contact to the lives of innocent civilians. Many people consider the best episode in the history of the Papua conflict resolution was when President Abdurahman Wahid (Gus Dur) took office. The research was intended to get an image of the representation of peace message that Gus Dur used in Mamat Alkatiri’s Stand Up Comedy on the Gusdurian First Friday Forum in Jakarta, which streamed on NU YouTube channel. The research used qualitative method of Roland Barthes’ semiotics model of analysis approach to produce comprehensive exposure. The research shows that Gus Dur’s peace message in Mamat Alkatiri’s stand up comedy suggests that Papua's conflict resolution was not carried out by violence and military operations. The thing to do is opening a dialogue room and promoting a humanist approach. In addition, Gus Dur also emphasized accommodations on local wisdom and cultural symbols as a reward for Papuanese identity. Despite raising controversy, however, over time, everything Gus Dur did turned out to be an idea to many that Papuan conflict solutions needed a particular approach.
