Abstract

This study was meant to discover the types of grammatical errors commited by the tenth graderof students in writing recount texts, and to discover why those errors happen. This study was acase study with qualitative approach. The subject of this study was 51 students of the tenthgrader of Madrasah AliyahThohirYasinLendangNangka in the School Year of 2016/2017. Theinstrument used in this study was written test of recount text. Data collection method used inthis study was observation, interview, and documentation. The data was analyzed by classifyingthe types of grammatical error into seven categories and then determined the possible causesof those errors according to the theory of Erdogan(2005). The result showed that: (1) Thestudents made 323 grammatical errors in 431 sentences classified into 98 or 30.3% errors inproducing verb groups, 112or 34.7% errors in subject-verb agreement, 46 or 14.2% errors inpluralization, 18 or 5.6% errors in the use of article, 20 or 6.2% errors in the use of preposition,12or 3.7% errors in the use of pronoun, and 17or 5.3% errors in the use of conjunction.(2) Thepossible causes of those errors are: intra-lingual transfer (88%) and inter-lingual transfer (12%).Key words: Grammatical Errors, Recount Text.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan jenis-jenis grammatical errors yang dibuat oleh siswakelas X di dalam menulis recount text, dan untuk menemukan penyebab errors tersebut.Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus dengan menggunakan pendekatan qualitative. Subjekpenelitian ini sebanyak 51 siswa kelas X Madrasah Aliyah Thohir Yasin Lendang Nangka Th.Pelajaran 2016/2017. Instrument yang digunakan adalah tes tulis dalam bentuk recount text.Metode pengumpulan data yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, interview, dandokumentasi. Data dianalisis dengan mengklasifikasikan jenis-jenis grammatical errors dankemudian menentukan kemungkinan penyebab errors tersebut dengan mengacu kepada teoriErdogan (2005). Abstract

This study was intended to describe politeness strategies in teacher and students interactionin EFL classroom and the effects on the learning process. The researcher chooses to getdata from the eleventh grades of SMA Mardhatillah NW Penakak in the School Year2014/2015. The subjects were the entire participant in EFL classroom (teacher and students)with number of participants were 28 participants. The data of this study was naturalisticsetting; it means that the researcher took the data without manipulating the teaching andlearning process. The data analyzed following Miles & Huberman (1994) an interactivecyclical model of qualitative data analysis was done with three concurrent flows activity,namely data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verification. The researcher hadfound four politeness strategies; bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness andoff record. Based on the result of the finding, the researcher was concluding that the teacherhad positive politeness in teaching learning process. The teacher also used polite utterancesand the teacher character was care, fun and friendly. Most of students in the class hadpositive politeness; they respected their teacher during the teaching and learning process.Key Words: Politeness Strategies , EFL ClassroomPenelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk menggambarkan strategi kesantunan dalam interaksi gurudan siswa di EFL kelas dan efek pada proses pembelajaran. Peneliti memilih untukmendapatkan data dari nilai kesebelas SMA Mardhatillah NW Penakak di Tahun Sekolah2014/2015. Subyek penelitian seluruh peserta dalam EFL kelas (guru dan siswa) denganjumlah peserta 28 peserta. Data dari penelitian ini adalah naturalistik pengaturan; itu berartibahwa peneliti mengambil data tanpa memanipulasi proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran.Data dianalisis berikut Miles & Huberman (1994) model siklus interaktif analisis datakualitatif dilakukan dengan aktivitas tiga arus bersamaan, yaitu reduksi data, display datadan penarikan kesimpulan / verifikasi. Peneliti telah menemukan empat strategi kesantunan;botak pada catatan, kesopanan positif, kesantunan negatif dan off the record. Berdasarkanhasil temuan, peneliti itu menyimpulkan bahwa guru memiliki kesantunan positif dalamproses belajar mengajar. Guru juga digunakan ucapan sopan dan karakter guru ituperawatan, menyenangkan dan ramah. Sebagian besar siswa di kelas memiliki kesantunanpositif; mereka dihormati guru mereka selama proses belajar mengajar.Keywords : Strategi Kesantunan, Kelas EFL

Abstract

This study was meant to identify the affixes which occur thorough inflectional andderivational process in SLND and to identify the verbs which occur through zero derivation.This study deals with a qualitative research. The techniques were used to collect the datathrough observation, interview, and recording. The data were taken from native speaker ofNgeno – Ngene dialect in Apitaik village. The obtained data were then analyzed throughdistributional method and equal method. It showed that there are eleven types of affixesdealing with inflectional process of verbal construction, as follows: three types in terms ofprefixes (e.g. {N-}, {ta-},{be-}), two types in terms of suffixes (e.g.{-aŋ}, {-in}), and six typesin terms of circumfixes (e.g. {N-aŋ}, {ta - aŋ}, {N-in}. {ta-in}, {be-an}, {ke-an}). In addition,There are seven types of affixes which occur through derivational process such as {N-},{be-}, {-aŋ}, {-in}, {ta-aŋ}, {ta-in} and {N-aŋ}. Lastly, it is also found that there was achanging process of word class catergoy (e.g. Noun → Verb) without adding particularaffixes categorized as a zero derivation.
