Abstract

The limitations of dental healthcare personnel to reach the entire population necessitate the involvement of health cadres in fostering self-care practices for oral health. Through training using the Dental Care Application, they can effectively convey this knowledge to the community. This research aims to enhance the knowledge, attitudes, and actions of Posyandu cadres related to dental and oral health. The research method employed is a Quasi-Experiment with a Non-Randomized Control Group Pretest-Posttest design. The Wilcoxon test is utilized to assess the impact of the Dental Care Application on these variables. The research results indicate a significant increase in knowledge by 96%, attitudes by 98%, and cadre actions by 86%. It is concluded that cadre training using the Dental Care Application positively influences cadre behavior in the context of dental and oral health, with a significant p-value of 0.000. Recommendations for future research include the development of this application for online accessibility and the addition of more diverse features to enhance training effectiveness.

Abstract

This research aims to study the effect of temperature and banana varieties on changes in physical and chemical properties of banana’s sale after drying.  The study was conducted by an experimental method with two treatments namely drying temperature and banana varieties.  The parameters observed were initial water content, equilibrium water content (Me), drying constants (k), vitamin C, and color.  The results showed that the banana varieties (Green Ambon and White Ambon) did not affect the drying time, equilibrium water content (Me), and drying constants but did affect the final water content, vitamin C, and the panelists' preference level towards the sale colors of bananas produced.  While the drying temperature used affects all observed parameters.  Low temperature (± 50 ℃) is the optimal temperature because the temperature produces yellowish-brown banana color (Cinnamon) on both banana varieties with a preference level of 44.45% very like, the final water content of 15.28% bb with a long drying time of 38.67 hours on Green Ambon bananas, while on White Ambon bananas are 55.56% like, the final water content of 16.55% bb and drying time of 38.50 hours. Keywords: Banana Sale, Chemical Properties, Drying, Physical, Thin Layer.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Dental caries is the destruction of tooth tissue that begins at the surface and can progress to the pulp (Nurhidayanti, 2020). According to the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas), the most common dental problem in Indonesia is decayed/damaged/aching teeth (45.3%), with an average DMF-T index of 1.9 for permanent teeth. Caries experience frequently occurs among elementary school children, particularly when dental care habits are poor. Brain health plays a vital role in children’s learning abilities, especially in fifth grade, when brain development accelerates and affects cognitive functions such as concentration. A study by Kusmana and Restuningsih (2020) showed a relationship between the DMF-T index and students’ academic performance. This study aims to describe brain health and def-t (decayed, extracted, and filled teeth in primary teeth) among early childhood children in Pekon Wonodadi, Pringsewu. Method: This research used a descriptive survey method. The population included all early childhood children using total sampling, with data collected through questionnaires and def-t examination forms.. Results: The study found that the majority of parents were adults (83%), and 65% of them were housewives. Good brain health was observed in 74.7% of the children, while a high prevalence of dental caries (def-t) was found in 80.6% of them. Conclusion: This study can help identify early childhood children who are at high risk of brain health issues and dental caries, supporting early intervention efforts.
