Abstract

When entrepreneurs discover an opportunity, they take the risk of exploiting it by seeking out the resources needed to develop a product or service and offer it to customers in the appropriate market. It is therefore essential to understand the factors that influence the recognition of entrepreneurial opportunities. To address this issue, we opted for a quantitative approach, using a sample of 350 entrepreneurs from the city of Sfax. We performed a discriminant analysis to test our hypotheses and determine the contribution of each factor to the process of identifying business opportunities. This article presents a literature review and the results of the studies examined concerning the key factors influencing the recognition of business opportunities. The results of our research can help young entrepreneurs understand the critical factors that will prompt them to quickly and effectively identify entrepreneurial opportunities with a view to exploiting them in business creation. Additionally, the information provided in this article could serve as a guiding resource for researchers interested in delving deeper into the determinants of entrepreneurial opportunity recognition.

Abstract

To develop an entrepreneurial university, the organization of student life has become an increasingly relevant topic. The current paper aims to develop a model relating to the organization of student life. Therefore, the paper’s objective is specifically to analyze the importance of para-academic factors and the role that they can play in the development of an entrepreneurial university. To reach tis end, we conducted a quantitative study on 230 Tunisian students. The obtained results show that students’ previous professional experiences and associative life have a positive impact on the development of an entrepreneurial university. The originality of this research lies in the design of a model that attempts to explain how to structure student life in order to develop an entrepreneurial university. We are particularly interested in the image of the ‘dynamic student’ as the main driving force behind the development of an entrepreneurial university

A total of 120 questionnaires were collected from students in three institutions of Sfax university. Relationships between the variables were evaluated using factor analysis, reliability, correlations, descriptive statistics, and regression. The findings show a positive and significant influence of entrepreneurship education on the three entrepreneurial characteristics (EA, SN, PBC) and consequently on the student-scope startup activities. Further implications and limitations are also discussed in this article.
