Abstract

Asthma is a chronic disease that can be prevented by treatment with reliever. Metered Dose Inhalers (MDI) is one of the rapid treatments for asthma, but the use of MDI techniques is still lacking in patients can cause asthma treatment is not optimal. Pharmacy students are the seeds of advanced study programs, namely pharmacists who will be responsible for explaining to patients about how to use MDI and MDI with spacers correctly. This study aims to determine the effect of providing education in the form of videos on how to use inhalers. This study was a quasi experimental study using a checklist. Sampling using the non random sampling method using purposive techniques. Data will be processed with descriptive statistical analysis. The MDI group research samples were 85 subjects while the MDI group with 84 spacers. The results of the study showed that there were differences in the completeness of the explanation on how to use MDI (p = 0,000) and MDI with spacers (p = 0,000) after giving video education. So it can be concluded that video education is effective in increasing the completeness of the explanation on how to use MDI and MDI with spacers.

Abstract

Optimal asthma therapy requires collaboration between patients and pharmacists as health workers. Through pharmacy services, pharmacists have the role of providing education and monitoring asthma therapy. But the level of pharmacist's knowledge will be important in its implementation. This study studies the level of medical knowledge from the community in the city of East Surabaya. The research design used in this study was cross sectional and data collection was carried out through questionnaires from previous studies. The level of knowledge includes 6 domains, namely the domain of pharmacological therapy, etiology and pathophysiology, risk factors, resolution, symptoms, and non-pharmacological therapy. The subject is a pharmacist who practices at a pharmacy in East Surabaya. Data is collected by visiting pharmacies one by one to invite pharmacists from each pharmacy. Interviews were conducted directly with research subjects. In this study descriptive data analysis was performed. The study was conducted from April to June 2019 with 108 people. The results of the study concluded: Most subjects had moderate / standard asthma knowledge (37.96%) and only a small proportion had a high level of knowledge (27.77%). From the questionnaire questions, the lowest domain was in non-pharmacological therapy (94.00) and the lowest value was in the question domain (43.00). Therefore, pharmacists need to increase their knowledge in order to help asthma patients achieve optimal treatment. Keywords: asthma, pharmacist, pharmacy, knowledge

Abstract

Improving the quality of service is an important point as the end point of the overall government administration reform. During the Covid 19 pandemic, visits to laboratories were expected that each clinical laboratory must meet the criteria for organization, space and facilities, equipment, specimens, examination methods, quality, security, recording and reporting properly. This study aimed to determine the effect of the quality of RT-PCR examination services at the UPTD Health Laboratory in Mojokerto Regency in 2022. The study design was a cross-sectional study. The population in this study were all patients carrying out RT-PCR examinations at the UPTD Regional Health Laboratory of Mojokerto Regency in 2022 with an average population in 2 months of 60 patients with a sample of 38 respondents. Data was collected using a questionnaire and then analyzed using linear regression. The results of the study explained that the quality of RT-PCR examination services on patient satisfaction at the Mojokerto District Health Laboratory UPTD in 2022 had a positive effect on patient satisfaction, which means that the better the quality of service performed by the UPTD Mojokerto District Health Laboratory, the higher patient satisfaction. Judging from the simple linear regression test of service quality on consumer (patient) satisfaction meets the requirements because the significance value is 0.003 <0.05, it can be concluded that variable X (service quality) affects variable Y (patient satisfaction). support from the local government through the Mojokerto District Health Office in terms of physical improvement of the UPTD Mojokerto District Health Laboratory and improving the quality of health services.

Abstract

Pharmacists are one of the health workers who play a role in providing information related to explanations of how to use inhaler preparations to asthma patients. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of providing educational videos on how to use several types of inhalers (MDI, MDI with spacers, Diskus®, and Bodyaler® given to pharmacist students. This research is a pre-post design (experimental) study. Sampling was conducted using the method non random sampling using purposive technique, normality test using Shapiro-Wilk and continued. From the results of the data obtained, each assessment verbally (as explained by the subject) and motoric assessment (as demonstrated by the subject) is seen from the pre- and post-intervention Comparing the completeness of explanations both verbally and motorically, showing significant differences compared to before education, with P values for MDI (P (0,000) ≤0.05), MDI with spacers (P (0,000) ≤0.05) Diskus® (P (0,000) ≤0.05), and Turbuhaler® (P (0,000) ,00.05), therefore video education has proven to be effective in increasing student proficiency. self-pharmacist to explain how to use inhalers.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia has the highest rate of stunting among toddlers in Southeast Asia, with a prevalence of 31.0%. A 2022 survey on nutritional status conducted across 33 Indonesian provinces ranked Central Sulawesi 6th highest for stunting, at 28.2%. Within 13 regencies/cities in Central Sulawesi province, Sigi regency had the highest stunting rate, reaching 36.8% among toddlers. Data from the Dolo Community Health Center showed a local prevalence of stunting at 14.7% in 2022. This figure remains high compared to the government's annual standard of 3.8%. The Community Health Worker program in 12 countries prevents stunting by providing nutrition education, monitoring child growth, promoting exclusive breastfeeding, and distributing additional foods and supplements. As the main pillars for improving public health, cadres are crucial in preventing stunting. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the role and performance of cadres in preventing stunting in the Dolo, Central Sulawesi. Methods: A qualitative case study design was adopted from March to July 2024 in Dolo, Central Sulawesi. Furthermore, 15 informants were selected by purposive sampling, including three key informants, seven primary informants, and five additional informants. Data collection involved participant observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and focus group discussions. Analysis followed three steps: reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Ethical approval was received from Majapahit Health Sciences College, Number: 04 /EC-SM/2024. Results: The results showed that stunting cadres in the Dolo, Central Sulawesi, effectively fulfilled their role and responsibilities across various stages of intervention. However, several challenges were identified, including limitations in conducting home visits. Conclusion: Cadre performance in Dolo requires a comprehensive approach, namely setting a minimum standard for each cadre's frequency of home visits. Stakeholders provide refresher training every six months and conduct periodic evaluations of cadre effectiveness.
