Abstract

Catcalling is a form of sexual harassment occurs in public spaces, so it has an impact on victims, who are primarily women. The impact felt by the victim is not visible physically but psychologically, such as the emergence of feelings of fear, anxiety, discomfort, disgust, and even a deep sense of trauma. The research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method with a microscopic approach and using the theory of Feminism, which is centred on women. The purpose of writing this article is to describe verbal sexual violence and provide knowledge about the prevalence of catcalling and the impact of it in society. The catcalling phenomenon seems ordinary and commonplace in society, so it is very meaningful to discuss; the more often the phenomenon occurs, the more victims there will be. The study results show that society still tolerates catcalling; it is considered even a compliment or a joke.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the research related to the Palace and its Authority in the Beteng Keraton revitalization program with the policy of relocating community settlements in the area. This study is qualitative with the theory and concept of social structure and legal rationality and Max Weber's bureaucracy. The data in this study were collected through observation, interview, and documentation techniques involving the community who live within the scope of the Benteng Keraton and are currently being relocated. The results of this study indicate that the community has awareness and openness to the procurement of relocation by the Palace. The community accepts the consequences even though there are various difficulties experienced. The palace is not arbitrary towards the community because it continues to carry out good and orderly procedures such as implementing socialization and providing interest or severance pay. With the actions and good relations between the palace and the community, harmonious conditions are created without conflict. In addition, the existence of legitimate laws and regulations of the Palace makes the community accept whatever has become the decision of the Palace Government. This is the authority that the Palace has in a democratic system that is based on the principles of humanity and equality.

Abstract

The conflict in the Middle East has become a complex global issue, affecting the political, economic, and social stability of the world. This region has high strategic value due to its position connecting three continents and its wealth of natural resources such as oil and gas. However, these resources often trigger conflicts due to various conflicting interests. This conflict has an impact on Muslim-majority countries both inside and outside the Middle East region, creating challenges such as sectarian tensions, mass migration, humanitarian crises, and economic instability. Amid these challenges, Muslim-majority countries have the potential to rise through regional cooperation, strengthening domestic economies, and sustainable development. This study aims to analyze the impact of the Middle East conflict on global stability and the development of Muslim-majority countries. By understanding the root causes thoroughly, this study offers strategic insights to manage global challenges, build solidarity, and create a more peaceful and prosperous future.

Abstract

In the last decade, development in Indonesia has predominantly focused on physical infrastructure, with primary priorities given to toll roads, bridges, and buildings. The main goal of this physical development is to boost economic growth in the areas being developed. This aligns with the conventional development paradigm, which measures the success of development solely based on economic growth. However, this conventional paradigm, which centers on economic growth, often overlooks other important aspects, resulting in new problems such as social inequality, environmental damage, and even social conflicts. In contemporary development discourse, a more comprehensive concept has emerged, namely development based on freedom, as proposed by Amartya Sen. It is within this context that this study aims to analyze the concept of development articulated by Amartya Sen and its implications for the implementation of development in Indonesia. According to Sen, development should not be viewed merely as an economic increase but as the expansion of human freedoms, which include political freedom, economic facilities, social opportunities, guarantees of transparency, and protection. Based on the analysis, this article suggests that in order to create more inclusive and sustainable development, the government must ensure greater participation from the public, respect their rights to express opinions and participate, and incorporate the principles of freedom at every stage of planning and implementing development.
