Abstract

This study sought to determine the employment status of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Graduates at President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU) Iba Zambales from 2017-2021. Additionally, it also analyzed the relevance of the graduate respondents' existing jobs and investigated the causes of their unemployment. The findings of this study will serve as a platform for future studies aimed at identifying the problems that graduates experience when looking for work, evaluating the performance of educators, and refining the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science curricula to align with the requirements of the industry 4.0 era. The researchers administered a survey to collect data on employment and job placement from the respondents. The results revealed that 46.48 percent of graduate respondents were presently employed in rank-and-file or clerical positions, while 36.62% held positions with professional, technical, and administrative roles directly related to their academic background. Additionally, 57.14 percent of unemployed graduate respondents cited their decision of not finding a job as the reason for being unemployed. The graduates were able to utilize the theoretical and technical proficiencies they learned throughout their academic training. It is highly recommended that further research be undertaken in future studies to enhance the study.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the learner engagement strategies and academic performance in online distance learning, Zone 3, Division of Zambales. A descriptive-correlational research design and quantitative analysis were employed in the study. The learner engagement strategies of intermediate learners in online distance learning were described and the academic performance tested its relationship. Findings revealed that learners are female, early adolescents, have smartphones, and are connected to the internet via WIFI broadband. The learners are highly engaged in the learner engagement strategies in online distance learning as learner-to-learner, learner- to- teachers and learner-to-content strategies in online distance learning. The learners obtained an outstanding academic performance. There is a significant difference in the learner engagement strategies in online distance learning as to learner-to-learner, learner- to- teachers and learner-to-content strategies in online distance learning when grouped according to the profile of the respondents in terms of age. There is a negligible relationship on the academic performance and learner engagement strategies of the learners. The proposed dissemination plan was developed based on the results of learner-to-learner, learner-to-teacher, and learner-to-content engagement strategies. The researcher recommends the following based on the findings that the teacher may still provide learning materials to be available to the learners. The teachers may encourage the learners to participate in the forum actively created so that they may ask questions about the lesson. The participation of the learners in virtual meetings during discussions is highly encouraged.

Abstract

The study aimed to develop a Course Crediting and Academic Evaluation System of the College of Communication and Information Technology (CCIT) in President Ramon Magsaysay State University – Iba Campus to offer an online system to ease the procedures of crediting and evaluation of the student academic records. Descriptive research design and descriptive statistics were utilized in this study. The dean, program chairpersons, and students of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering are the respondents of the study. The findings revealed that the respondents evaluated the software quality of the system using the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC): 25010:2011 as excellent. The respondents evaluated as strongly recommended on the degree of recommendation of the acquisition and implementation of the system. The Course Crediting and Academic Evaluation System is recommended to implement to improve the present procedures. Training to the end-users is advised to be conducted to know how to use the system. The maintenance and continuous enhancement of the system to adapt to the changing trends in information technology.
