Abstract

The study aimed to was determine the effect of dose and time of fertilization bio-slurry liquid fertilizer on the growth and yield of sweet corn was held in Tanjung Laut, Fajar Baru village, Jati Agung district, South Lampung regency in October 2016 to January 2017. In this study used Randomized Block Design (RBD) with factorial treatment design (4 x 2) with three replications. The first factor was the dose of bio-slurry liquid fertilizer consisted 4 levels were 0, 25, 50, and 75 l/ha. The second factor was the fertilization time consisted of 2 levels were (2 and 4 MST) and (2, 4, and 6 MST). Variance of homogeneity was tested by Bartlett's test, if the assumptions were met, the data were analyzed by variance using F-test. The difference of median value of treatment will be tested by the Least Significance Difference Test (LSD) at 5% level. The results showed that the treatment of several doses of bio-slurry liquid fertilizer has an effect on the length of cob, while the treatment of some fertilization time has an effect on dry weight variables. However, the treatment of some dose levels and fertilization time of bio-slurry liquid fertilizer has not been able to increase growth and yield. Proper fertilization time does not depend on the dose of bio-slurry liquid fertilizer given in influencing the growth and yield of sweet corn crops.

Abstract

The use of ferns as orchid growing media feel expensive, so it is necessary to find an alternative media as a media surrogate fern that has been used. This study aimed to explore alternative growing media and fertilizer is good for growth and development of dendrobium orchids. Selection of a good planting medium and the proper use of fertilizers can be expected to support healthy plant growth and quality of orchids. experiments were conducted at Greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture Lampung University. The experiment was conducted using a randomized design perfectly with the treatment group factorial (6x2). The first factor is the type of growing medium consists of wood charcoal (M1), fern (M2), husk + sawdust (M3), acacia bark (M4), cocochip (M5) and coconut bark (M6). The second factor is the type of foliar fertilizer consists of Gandasil (P1) and Hyponex (P2). Data were analyzed by analysis of variance followed by HSD test at 5% level. The results showed that the use of media orchids ferns produce good vegetative growth, no different to use of planting medium charcoal, charcoal husk + sawdust, bark and bark acacia tree coconut, but it is different than the use of cocochip shown in variable plant height, number of leaves , leaf length and leaf width. While fertilizers orchid leaves that produce good growth is fertilizer of Gandasil

Abstract

Gladiolus is a potential ornamental plant to be widely developed because its high aesthetic value. Generally, gladiolus is propagated vegetatively by using tuber that called corm. There are some problems in gladiolus vegetative propagation, which is corm has a dormancy period and produces only one to two corms for each gladiolus plant. The effort that can be done to solve these problems is to provide benzyladenine to gladiolus corm. This study aims to determine the response of four varieties of gladiolus (Gladiolus hybridus L.) that soak to benzyladenine in increasing the growth of shoot and corm production. This research was conducted in Bandar Lampung in 2017. The treatment was designed factorially (4 x 4) using Randomized Block Design. The first factor was the varieties of gladiolus ie Anisa, Clara, Nabila, and Nurlaela. The second factor was the 100 ppm concentration of benzyladenine in repeating ie first, second, third, and fourth soaking. Data analysis was tested by Least Significant Difference (LSD) test at 5% level. The results showed that (1) from four gladiolus corm varieties, Nabila produced the highest number of shoots at 10,34 shoots, while the variety that produces the highest number of corm was Clara at 5,71 corms, (2) the benzyladenine that used up to four times for soaking the corm resulted the same response in increasing growth of shoot and corm production of four gladiolus varieties, (3) the response of each gladiolus varieties didn?t depend on how many times that benzyladenine used to soak the corm in increasing the growth of shoot and corm production of four gladiolus varieties.

Abstract

Gladiolus propagation effort has been experiencing problems because of active buds on gladiolus corms in normal conditions is generally. Shoots will grow and then will produce tubers. So for rapid multiplication of gladiolus necessary effort to stimulate active shoots found on gladiolus corms. The use of benzyl adenine was effective enough to stimulate the emergence of shoots on gladiolus corms. Earring size seedlings generally will affect the size of the new corms. In general, if the new corms are formed more than one will affect the size of the next Earring. Fertilization-rise is expected to enlarge the size of the corm so that it can directly be used as a corm production. This study aims to find methods of rapid propagation of gladiolus corms by: (1) the effect of initial corm size on the number and size of the new corm, (2) the effect of fertilization dose on the growth of earrings, and (3) the effect of fertilization at each dose respective initial corm size. This study is a continuation of previous studies that aimed to obtain an effective concentration of BA to stimulate the growth of shoots contained in gladiolus corms. This research used the BA 30 ppm (the results of previous studies) is applied to the gladiolus cultivars Kaifa. The treatment applied to the three sizes of 3.8 to 4.8 cm diameter Earring (U1), 2.5 to 3.7 cm (U2), 1.2 to 3.0 cm (U3). The results showed that administration with a concentration of 30 ppm BA, able to grow all of gladiolus corms which were attempted (100% sprout more than one bud), and capable of increasing the number of active buds and number of shoots by 4.6 by 6.4. Abstract

The increasing number of Gladiol Flower demand every year in Indonesia is not comparable with the low productivity of Gladiol Edible root. The technique of growing stimulation by using growth controller essence becomes one alternative to increase the number of sprout and edible root of Gladiol. This research is being purposeful to know the concentrate, the long term of submersion, and the combination between the concentrate and the best long term kinetin submersion which could increase the number of sprout and edible root of Gladiol (Gladiolus hybridus L.). The treatment is done by factorial (3 x 2) in Perfect Disordered Group Arrangement with four times repetition. The first factor is kinetin concentrate, those are 30, 40, and 50 ppm, the second factor is the long term of kinetin submersion, and those are 24 and 48 hours. The result of the research shows that there is no real influence between the treatments of concentrate and the long term kinetin submersion. The percentage of germinated edible root, the number of edible root, the height of the plants, the number of leaves, the number of beet, the weight of beet, the diameter of beet, the number of beet offspring, the weight of the offspring, and the dry weight of one root of beets.Key words: kinetin, multiplication, Gladiolus
