Abstract

This article specifically discusses Ahmad Syafii Maarif's thoughts on Islam and Pancasila. More specifically, he wrote his thoughts in a Ph.D thesis entitled Islam as the Basis of State: A Study of the Islamic Political Ideas as Reflected in the Constituent Assembly Debates in Indonesia which has presented intellectual, historical and thought aspects that highlight between the Islamic group and the National Group in determining the philosophy of the Indonesian state. What is more important is that the sources used by Ahmad Syafii Maarif in this thesis are very varied. From articles, books, newspapers, news magazines, interviews to sources that have not been published in the original language. It seems that this is the first thesis on Islam and Pancasila which is quite comprehensive in the study related to Islam and state matters in Indonesia. The type of research in this article is library research with primary data in the form of the original work of Ahmad Syafii Maarif and secondary data as research support. Through this method, it is hoped that it can provide answers to questions related to Ahmad Syafii Maarif's historiography in the theoretical study of Islam vis a vis Pancasila. In conclusion, it can be seen how far the contribution of Ahmad Syafii Maarif's thoughts in dialectics the historiography of Islam and Pancasila as the basis of the state[Artikel ini secara khusus membahas pemikiran Ahmad Syafii Maarif tentang Islam dan Pancasila. Secara lebih spesifik pemikirannya itu dia tuliskan dalam sebuah tesis Ph.D-nya berjudul Islam as the Basis of State: A Study of the Islamic Political Ideas as Reflected in the Constituent Assembly Debates in Indonesia yang telah menyajikan aspek intelektual, sejarah dan pemikiran yang mengetengahkan antara kelompok Islam dan Kelompok Nasional dalam menententukan falsafat negara Indonesia. Yang lebih penting lagi adalah sumber yang digunakan Ahmad Syafii Maarif dalam tesis tersebut sangat bervariatif. Dari mulai artikel, buku, surat kabar, majalah berita,wawancara hingga sumber-sumber yang belum diterbitkan dalam bahasa aslinya. Tampaknya inilah tesis pertama tentang Islam dan Pancasila yang cukup komprehensif dalam pengkajian yang berhubungan dengan Islam dan masalah kenegaraan di Indonesia. Tujuan tulisan ini adalah mendeskripsikan sekaligus menganalisis metode, metodologi, teori, pemikiran hingga pendekatan yang digunakan oleh Syafii Maarif dalam tesisnya tersebut. Analisis historis menjadi metode yang digunakan Syafii Maarif. Karya Ahmad Syafii Maarif ini memberikan konstribusi besar kepada literatur dan menjadi inspirasi bagi peminat dan penulis sejarah Islam dan Pancasila, serta mampu menyumbangkan bangunan keilmuan Islam yang segar, adil dan lestari di Nusantara.]

Abstract

Abstract This article describes the relationship between Islam and modern western civilization in terms of the history of Islamic political thought. As a review of the literature, the method used in this research is more eclectic, mixing qualitative methods and content analysis. The results and conclusions of this study are that the relationship between Islam and Modern Western civilization gave birth to new adaptations and strategies. The hallmark of this period is the dominance of the West in the field of political thought. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Western political thought served as a model for how a society could and should develop. Meanwhile, on the other hand, it is considered as something foreign and deserves to be despised. So there are some Islamic intellectuals who apologize that some Western ideas are the true expression of Islam. While some others respond with revivalism, namely returning to the sources of revelation.. Keywords: Relations, Islam, West, Civilization, Politics, Thought. Abstrak: Artikel ini memaparkan hubungan antara Islam dan peradaban barat modern ditinjau dari sejarah pemikiran politik Islam. Sebagai kajian terhadap literatur, metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini lebih bersifat elektis, berbaur antara metode kualitatif dan analisis isi. Hasil dan kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah bahwa hubungan Islam dan peradaban Barat Modern melahirkan adaptasi dan strategi-strategi baru. Ciri khas periode ini adalah dominasi Barat dalam bidang pemikiran politik. Pada abad ke-19 dan ke-20, pemikiran politik Barat dijadikan sebagai model tentang bagaimana suatu masyarakat dapat dan seharusnya berkembang. Sedangkan di sisi lain, hal tersebut dianggap sebagai sesuatu yang asing dan layak untuk dimusuhi. Sehingga sebagian intelektual Islam ada yang berapologi bahwa beberapa ide Barat merupakan ekspresi Islam yang sebenarnya. Sementara sebagian yang lain meresponnya dengan revivalisme, yaitu kembali ke sumber-sumber wahyu. Kata Kunci: Hubungan, Islam, Barat, Politik, Pemikiran.

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the concept of Ibn Miskawaih's Mental Health in his work entitled Tahdzibul Al-Akhlaq and its relevance to the mental health of Generation Z. The writing method used in this study is a qualitative method in the form of a literature study with the primary book by Ibn Miskawaih entitled Tahdzib Al-Akhlaq which has been translated into Menuju Kesempurnaan Akhlak. In the process of analyzing the data, the author uses a descriptive-analytical analysis method. The results of this study indicate the conclusion that various mental health issues faced by Generation Z, as well as the relevance of mental health in Ibn Miskawaih's thinking, are expected to be the foundation for the formation of strong mental health. Because, for Ibn Miskawaih, mental health is a divine faculty, not physical, so that it can affect the activities of the mind and heart in everyday life. Especially for the mental health of Generation Z. This paper contributes to modern Islamic thought in understanding various mental problems of Generation Z scientifically which include attitudes and behavior both physically and mentally.
