Abstract

This article explores the implementation of writing captions on Instagram towards students of SMAN 6 Bogor. According to basic competencies of English subject in Curriculum 2013, one of competencies that the students of grade XII of SMA is able to compose captions. Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, story-sharing, and video-sharing. It is one of the social media tools widely used by teenagers. This study is intended to reports how the implementation of EFL students’ writing competency in using Instagram and whether the learning activity can boost students’ interest and encouraging students to write from what they know. Further, the discussion also takes into the issues of the problem that may exist during the application of Instagram as a learning tool and the solution proposed by the teacher to solve out the problems will also intensively investigate. Employing qualitative approach, observation and interview use as the instrument of this present study. The students at SMA 6 Bogor choose as the informant of this study. The students are under the reseracher’s supervision. Activities are designed in accordance with the course objectives to share information about the students and the phenom.

Abstract

The writer used qualitative research qualitative research is a research studies that investigate the qualitiy of relationship, activities, situations or materials are frequently. The research was conducted on 24th July at SMA Negeri 1 Cibungbulang and the sample were 16 samples. In doing this research, the writer took the data using triangulation technique by collecting the data from observation, questionnaire and interview. This technique was used because the writer wanted to examine the data credibility and also avoid the bias data in research. The overall attitude of respondents interest in English and reading is in the category of positive attitudes. writer gave the questionnaire to the students who were being respondents or samples for the research. The questionnaire were 20 statements and devided into 3 categories, those are interest; perception/critical thinking and HOTS understanding. 20 students who were being the sample answered the statements it was very vary. This classroom observation showed that in skill gathering, evaluating information and ideas students got 60% with teacher’s guide and 40% with students’ initiation This is indicated by the total score of respondents which amounted to 393 and lies between a score of 300 (median) and 400 (quartile 3), which is the score limit in the positive attitude category. It appeared that the attitudes of each respondent are spread in the very positive attitude 40%, positive attitude 55% and negative attitude 5%. Each respondent's attitudes about students' interest in English, reading and text spread in the very positive attitude category 40%, positive attitude 50% and negative attitude 10%.

Abstract

Abstrak Di masa pandemi Covid-19, yang menyebabkan diminimalisirnya kegiatan luar ruangan, dan menyebabkan masyarakat melakukan segala kegiatan didalam ruangan, peran kompetensi pedagogik pada mahasiswa dalam dunia pendidikan sangat dibutuhkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana caranya agar proses pembelajaran tetap berjalan efektif dan efisien walaupun dengan cara daring atau tidak bertemu secara langsung. Penelitin ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Tujuannya untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana pengaruh kompetensi pedagogik mahasiswa terhadap proses pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris berbasis daring secara faktual, sistematis dan akurat. Dalam penulisan ini, pengumpulan data yang digunakan penulis dengan cara study pustaka. Mahasisswa yang memiliki kompetensi pedagogik dalam dirinya pasti bisa menemukan strategi yang tepat serta bisa mengelola program pembelajaran yang mencakup kemampuan untuk mengelaborasi kemampuan peserta didik, merencanakan program belajar mengajar, melaksanakan program belajar mengajar, dan mengevaluasi program belajar mengajar yang semua itu dilakukan secara daring atau dalam jaringan. Selain itu, proses pembelajaran daringpun dilakukan agar tujuan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris tetap tercapai walaupun dalam kondisi dan situasi yang membuat segalanya terasa lebih rumit, namun guru harus bisa membuat yang tadinya rumit menjadi lebih mudah.

Abstract

English for tourism is to fulfil students’ need to learn English for specific purposes. Baduy people are people who live in disconnection in the inside of South Banten. The Baduy public are notable as individuals who can oversee woods and their current circumstance well. This study aims to find out the Baduy culture and climate and how they use it intelligently and admirably. The fundamental strategy used is a review technique with several PRA procedures.The examination was directed in Kanekes Village, Leuwidamar District, Lebak Regency. Banten Province. The information gathered, both essential information and auxiliary information, were then examined by subjective spellbinding investigation. The space of ​​Baduy is 5,101.8 hectares, with a populace of around 5,000 individuals spread north of 10 towns. Abstract

This research is qualitative research. The objective of this research is to investigated model concept attainment by using Integrated reading toward students’ vocabulary mastery. The writer wanted to know how model concept attainment by using integrated reading can enrich students’ vocabulary mastery. In this research there are 15 sample at fifth semester of STKIP Muhammadiyah, Bogor. The data collecting technique used by the writer are observation, interview and documentation. The documentation attached while the students learn English using integrated book in the classroom. Then, the writer gave question in learning process after the students finished reading integrated book to find out the students’ vocabulary mastery is getting richer or not. Actually the result is positive, all students’ vocabulary is richer. After that, the writer gave interview, this interview did to investigated deeper about the students’ vocabulary mastery when model concept attainment by using integrated reading book in learning English. The result of this study can be concluded that the model concept attainment by using integrated book as learning media is very effective in enriching students’ vocabulary mastery. Furthermore, it can be alternative for the teacher to teach vocabulary mastery and can help the students to easier in learning English.

Abstract

The aim of research is to explore the effect, if any, of integrating critical thinking on learners’ use of critical thinking skills in argumentative writing. The research used quasi-experimental desaign, it is include control group and experimental group. The data which has been quantitatively analyzed indicates that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group. The students’ ability to use more credible evidence, address alternative arguments, support conclusions, and maintain the logical flow of ideas in their essays did not reach a mastery level in the posttest, yet the average level they reached is reassuring in view of the short time of the training they had. The integration of critical thinking for longer periods may bring forth encouraging outcomes. Argumentative writing constitutes an important part of second-language learners' academic writing. Data analysis indicated that most participants perceived the rhetorical aspects of English argumentative writing as difficult. Data analysis also indicated that participants mainly used cognitive, social, and search strategies, whereas metacognitive strategies were used infrequently. Potential implications of the study for second-language writing instruction are discussed
