Abstract

Stunting is a nutritional problem that is still a big challenge in various countries, including Indonesia. Based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO), around 22% of Indonesian children experience stunting, which can have long-term impacts on health, cognitive development and productivity in the future. One of the main factors causing stunting is a lack of adequate nutritional intake, which is often related to low appetite in children (WHO, 2018). This research aims to determine the effectiveness of giving tuina massage in increasing appetite and nutrition in stunted children. Search results from the database found 10 articles that met the research criteria. From several studies it was found that the effectiveness of giving tuina massage in increasing appetite and nutrition in stunted children is all effective and successful in increasing children's weight and appetite. By knowing the effectiveness of giving tuina massage in increasing appetite and nutrition in stunted children, it is hoped that hospital management will find a solution in handling stunting problems using non-pharmacological techniques so that health problems can be resolved by doing tuina massage.

Abstract

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by increased blood glucose levels due to impaired insulin production, insulin function, or a combination of both. To date, no cure exists for the disease; current efforts focus on controlling blood glucose levels, one of which is through dietary management. The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) projects that among the top 10 countries with the highest number of diabetes cases, China, India, and the United States occupy the top three positions. Indonesia ranks seventh, with 10.7 million individuals diagnosed with diabetes. It is further estimated that by 2030, the global number of diabetes mellitus cases will increase to 678 million. This underscores Indonesia's significant contribution to the prevalence of diabetes cases in Southeast Asia. A diabetes mellitus diet is specifically designed to help patients achieve and maintain normal blood glucose levels. This study aimed to analyze dietary compliance and its impact on blood glucose level changes in diabetes mellitus patients. A qualitative descriptive research method was employed, conducted at Kenten Permai Public Health Center, Palembang. The qualitative data analysis was inductive, leading to hypothesis development. The study involved three diabetes mellitus patients as informants and one expert informant, a nutritionist. The findings revealed that one respondent was fully compliant with the diet, one was partially compliant, and one was non-compliant. Respondent D, who adhered to the schedule but not the portion sizes or food types, showed a reduction in blood glucose levels from 186 mg/dL to 160 mg/dL. Respondent R, who fully complied with portion sizes, food types, and meal timings, experienced a decrease from 213 mg/dL to 136 mg/dL. Meanwhile, respondent Y, who was less compliant, exhibited only a slight reduction, from 328 mg/dL to 298 mg/dL. All respondents demonstrated awareness of the diabetes mellitus diet and had started implementing it in their daily lives.

Abstract

According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2023, the infant mortality rate was recorded at 16.85 per 1,000 live births. One of the main causes of neonatal mortality is the birth of babies with low birth weight (LBW). One method that can be used to handle LBW babies is the kangaroo method. The success of implementing this method is influenced by various factors, including the knowledge and attitude of the mother. This study aims to identify the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of mothers towards the implementation of the kangaroo method on LBW babies in the Neonatal Ward of Siti Fatimah Azzahra Hospital, South Sumatra Province, in 2024. This study uses a quantitative analytical approach with a cross-sectional design. The study population included all mothers who gave birth to LBW babies in the neonatal ward of the hospital, with a sample size of 25 respondents selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square statistical test. The results of the study showed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge (p-value = 0.028) and maternal attitude (p-value = 0.007) with the implementation of the kangaroo method in LBW babies. As a recommendation, the results of this study are expected to be a consideration for hospitals in improving the quality of health services, especially in the implementation of care using the Kangaroo Method.

Abstract

According to WHO data (2022), in 2020, nearly half (47%) of all under-five deaths occurred during the neonatal period (the first 28 days of life). One of the causes of neonatal death is premature birth. In premature infants, the sucking and swallowing reflexes are not yet fully developed. One of the treatments to improve the sucking reflex in infants is oral motor therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of oral motor therapy on weak sucking reflex disorders in premature infants in the NICU of Siti Fatimah Regional Hospital in 2025. This research used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The population of this study consisted of all premature infants in the NICU of Siti Fatimah Regional Hospital, South Sumatra Province, from December 30, 2024, to January 30, 2025. The sample consisted of 15 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Statistical analysis was performed using the paired sample t-test. The results showed that oral motor therapy had a significant effect on weak sucking reflex disorders in premature infants in the NICU of Siti Fatimah Regional Hospital in 2025, with a p-value of 0.000. It is recommended that better nursing care be provided, especially for premature infants, through collaboration with pediatricians to improve weak sucking reflexes in premature infants using oral motor therapy.

Abstract

Stunting is a growth disorder in children caused by inadequate social stimulation, repeated infections, and malnutrition. The issue of stunting occurring in developing countries like Indonesia will become a health problem for society and must be seriously addressed. One of the actions taken by health services in an effort to prevent stunting in children is health education about corn pudding. The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of educating parents to prevent stunting in children. The Method analysis in this study is a quantitative research with a pre-experimental type of research. The research design used is a pre-post test design, with a one group pretest and post test design. The population in the study consists of parents and children at Kartika II-3 Elementary School in Palembang, with a sample of 74 people selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The instruments used were questionnaires and e-booklets. The data analysis used is Univariate and Bivariate. The results obtained from the measurements before and after the health education pre-test showed an increase from 41.9% to 60.8%. The result of the Wilcoxon Hypothesis Test, as seen from the Sig. (2-tailed) value, is 0.000. Therefore, if the p value < 0.05 (Ho is rejected, Ha is accepted). It can be concluded that there is an influence of education on parents about corn pudding to prevent stunting in children at SD Kartika II-3 Palembang. It is hoped that this education can be continuously implemented by educational institutions and health professionals as a promotive and preventive effort to reduce stunting rates, as well as to develop other nutritious local food menu variations to optimally support children’s growth and development.
