Abstract

Rowosari Village is an area with fairly rapid business growth in Semarang City and has abundant banana production, so this is an opportunity to develop business in the banana-based processed food sector. The purpose of this study is to: 1) Analyze the level of business motivation and business ability 2) Analyze the level of business success 3) Analyze the effect of business motivation and business ability on business success. The research was conducted in August – September 2020 and located in 32 banana processing MSMEs who are members of the Mekarsari MSME group. Quantitative approach was used in this research. Determination of respondents using the saturated sampling method with the number of respondents as many as 32 banana processing MSMEs. Data collection methods were taken by conducting interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis used descriptive analysis, multiple linear regression, business feasibility analysis and calculation of added value. The results showed that : 1) The level of business motivation and business ability is high. 2) The level of business success is high. 3) The variables of motivation and business ability have a significant effect on business success simultaneously and partially. Suggestions that can be applied in this study include 1) MSME actors can increase motivation in entrepreneurship by attending seminars and training in order to develop self-quality and improve marketing strategies 2) There is a need for assistance from the government or related agencies so that MSMEs are more highly competitive 3) There is a need for further research related to the factors that influence business success outside the variables that have been described in this study.
