Abstract

Keberagaman potensi unggulan yang ada di kawasan pesisir selatan Kabupaten Purworejo merupakan salah satu modal dasar dalam pembangunan ekonomi. Namun kenyataannya keragaman potensi komoditas unggulan dari sektor pertanian dan non pertanian belum menjadi basis dalam pengelolaan wilayah pesisir, salah satunya tercermin dalam kebijakan pengelolaan pesisir yang telah ditetapkan dan dilaksanakan di wialyah pesisir selatan Kabupaten Purworejo. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka penelitian difokuskan untuk memetakan berbagai jenis komoditas unggulan sebagai basis dalam pengelolaan wilayah pesisir selatan Kabupaten Purworejo berdasarkan kesesuaian lahan. Pada penelitian ini, data yang digunakan meliputi data primer yang diperoleh melalui wawancara expert choice serta observasi lapangan, dan data sekunder yang diperoleh melalui survei institusional. Data-data tersebut diolah dengan metode analisis berupa analisis LQ, Shift share, dan overlay peta kesesuaian lahan. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat berbagai jenis komoditas unggulan sektor pertanian berupa padi ladang, padi sawah, jagung, ketela rambat, kelapa deres, tebu, jambu mete, kambing, domba, ayam, itik entog, kelinci serta perikanan tambak. Beberapa komoditas unggulan tidak memiliki kelas kesesuaian lahan yang sesuai, namun dengan mengatasi faktor pembatas, memiliki potensi yang besar untuk dikembangkan.

Abstract

Land conversion is frequent in rural and urban areas where an increase in population is directly connected to the growing demand for additional land. A region with the highest rate of land conversion is Sleman Regency which is among the 3 regencies in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Therefore, this study aimed to examine conversion of agricultural land to determine the qualification as sustainable and how the resources could be relocated for other uses. The analysis was conducted quantitatively and descriptively using secondary data from a time series database spanning 2015 to 2020. The results were presented through a combination of tables, graphs, images, and map visualizations. The study further showed that 4.412 hectares of agricultural land experienced a functional change over 5 years with the most significant change occurring in Pakem Subdistrict (1.540 hectares) and the least in Kalasan Subdistrict (4 hectares). Carrying capacity value of agricultural land in Moyudan, Godean, Cangkringan, Minggir, Seyegan, Ngaglik, Mlati, Prambanan, and Ngemplak was also influenced by the quantity of agricultural land available in each subdistrict. A maximum carrying capacity showed that adequate food was produced to sustain the population. Conversely, Depok and Turi Subdistricts possessed the lowest land-carrying capacity, showing that the subdistricts depended on food production to meet the population’s needs.

Abstract

Soil degradation is a major constraint to agricultural sustainability, particularly in areas characterised by diverse environmental conditions. Halong District, Balangan Regency, South Kalimantan Province, is characterised by heterogeneous land uses, soil types, slope variations, and variable rainfall patterns, which influence soil quality and degradation risks. This research aims to assess the potential for soil degradation concerning environmental diversity and its implications for sustainable integrated agriculture. The study highlights that differences in land use, from shifting cultivation to permanent farming, combined with acidic soils, steep slopes, and uneven rainfall distribution, increase vulnerability to erosion, nutrient depletion, and declining soil fertility. The results show that the Potential Soil Degradation Risk (PSDR) in the low-risk class (PSDR.II) covers 298.22 km2 (45.20%), followed by the intermediate-risk (PSDR.III) covering 335.15 km2 (50.79%), and the high-risk (PSDR.IV) covering 26.48 km2 (4.01%). Land use and slope are determining factors for PSDR, as indicated by ANOVA, DMRT, and correlation test results. Understanding these linkages is essential for designing site-specific land management practices that reduce degradation risks while improving agricultural productivity. The outcomes of this research are expected to provide scientific recommendations for stakeholders in developing sustainable agricultural management strategies, such as soil conservation, organic matter management, and integrated crop-livestock systems, to mitigate degradation risks and support long-term agricultural resilience in Halong District.
