Abstract

In process industries or power generation, boilers are one of the first components to consume energy. Moreover, poor combustion, heat transfer fouling, and improper operation and maintenance lead to a gradual decrease in efficiency. In addition, poor fuel and water quality cause boiler performance to decrease. As a result, efficiency testing helps determine how far the boiler efficiency deviates from the best efficiency level. A complete energy audit of the boiler was conducted at PT. ABC Pulp and Paper Mill with ASME (American Society for Mechanical Engineers) power test code, PTC 4.1. Direct method is an input-output method, and Indirect mehod is a method of heat loss that occurs in the boiler. The direct method shows an efficiency of 84.46% and the indirect method shows an efficiency of 78.73%. Based on direct and indirect methods showing a difference of 5.73%, it is reported that the total heat loss is 21.26% where the highest is in the dry flue gas of 14.88%, namely the incoming heat energy is carried away with dry flue gas.

Abstract

Indonesia is a maritime country that has an abundance of marine catches. In 2022, the production of marine catches reached 24.85 millions tons, while the export amount was 1.221 millions tons. This is due to the limited technology that can extend the freshness of marine catches. Based on this problem, a cooling system was designed in the form of an ABF that can freeze marine catch products. The Air Blast Freezing (ABF) system is designed at an air temperature of -40oC using a cascade refrigeration system. The working fluid used is R290/R32 hydrocarbon, which has very low GWP and ODP so it is safe for the environment and the earth's ozone layer. The results obtained show that the cooling load is 444.037 Watts, the LTC compressor power and HTC compressor power are 116.19 Watts and 205.98 watts. The designed air blast freezing system has a surface area of LTC evaporator of 2.670 m2 and HTC condenser of 4.780 m2. The calculated capillary pipe length is 1.94 m for HTC and 1.51 m for LTC, the COP of the ABF system is 2.774.

Abstract

Energy management and audits are important steps in improving a building's energy efficiency. Mosques, as centers of religious and social activities, often have significant energy requirements. The research methods used include field observations at the Teratak Buluh Grand Mosque, measuring energy consumption, and recommendations for saving energy use. The research results show that mosques have the potential for significant energy savings with recommendations for energy conservation opportunities that can be implemented by reducing the number of lamps used and the number of air conditioners. Previously, electrical power consumption at the Teratak Buluh Grand Mosque was 74,480.40 kWh/year with electricity costs reaching IDR 68,894,370/year. Meanwhile, electrical power usage after energy conservation opportunities (ECO) is 41,918.40 kWh/year with electricity costs of IDR 38,774,520/year, with an energy consumption intensity (IKE) value at the mosque of 13.49 kWh/m2/ month. Based on Permen No. 13 Tahun 2012 Tentang Penghematan Energi Listrik, this value is included in the fairly efficient energy consumption category.
