Abstract

The monetary crisis that shock Indonesia past years ago has alerted many parties to the importance of strong economic fundamentals and empowerment of the people's economy. A monetary sector that is not supported by a strong real sector is suspected of harboring a time bomb waiting for a moment to collapse the achievements of national economic development. The monetary crisis also made us realize the importance of empowering the people's economy. A development paradigm that does not leave economic growth entirely to the role of large entrepreneurs, but to all parties, especially micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This study tries to see the important role of Islamic economics in regional economic development.

Abstract

When the New Order regime was toppled, Indonesia entered a new historical phase known as the reformation era. Indeed, the ‘reformasi era’ was the antithesis of the New Order era. Reformers wanted to fix everything that had gone wrong under the Suharto regime. Many hopes were raised that the fate of the nation would be better and the various problems inherited from the previous era could be resolved. The spirit of reformasi made many things that were previously considered impossible during the New Order era find an outlet. At the beginning of the reformation, a number of previously impossible ideals such as (1) the superiority of ethics and morals over power, (2) the victory of change over the establishment, (3) hope for the future over the darkness of the past, (4) the triumph of conscience over the abuse of power in the past. The following study will try to put forward some ideas that we may already know together to build Indonesia to become a more victorious, respected, and dignified nation, namely by strengthening human capital with faith, hard work, and professionalism.

Abstract

In this modern era marked by rapid advancements in knowledge and technology, changes are occurring across various domains of life. One response to these changes is community engagement, which aims to integrate innovations and new knowledge into everyday life. In this context, the organized community engagement has three primary objectives that are highly significant. Firstly, community engagement aims to integrate Islamic digital finance courses with community empowerment. This entails not only providing training or courses on Islamic digital finance but also imparting understanding and skills to the community in applying these concepts in their daily lives. Consequently, communities can benefit from technological advancements in the context of Islamic finance, thereby enhancing financial inclusion and economic empowerment. Secondly, community engagement aims to enhance Tazkia's image as a pioneer in Islamic digital business and finance. Through these activities, Tazkia can demonstrate its commitment to innovation and development in the field of Islamic finance. This not only helps improve the institution's reputation but also strengthens its position as a leading center in Islamic finance education and research. Thirdly, community engagement aims to market TAZKIA to the targeted market segments. By organizing relevant and informative seminars and talk shows, Tazkia can reach a wider audience and introduce its services to them. This is a crucial step in expanding the institution's reach and increasing community participation in the programs offered. In addition to these three primary objectives, community engagement also has further impacts. For instance, through outputs such as articles written by Tazkia students, this engagement can strengthen student involvement in academic activities and provide a platform for them to share their knowledge and experiences. Furthermore, by providing theoretical and practical knowledge to participants, community engagement is expected to make a tangible contribution to the development of the Islamic digital finance sector and community empowerment on a broader scale.

Abstract

This study aims to examine determinants of zakat payers (muzakki) interest to pay zakat through Zakat Management Organization (ZMO). The respondents were randomly selected from muzakki who paid their zakat on profession/income through ZMOs in Indonesia resulting in 100 respondents. Using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) method, this study found that transparency of zakat management, ZMO promotions using public figures, and supporting regulation which imposes zakat as a tax deductible expense have significant impact on muzakki's interest to pay zakat through ZMO. Meanwhile improvement of digital services and socialization of zakat through social media do not have significant effect on muzakki's interest. However, using sub-sample who are active users of social media, this study discovered a negative effect of social media usage on muzakkis interest. This finding reinforces the suitability of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in the context of muzakki's behavior to pay zakat which is influenced by the quality of ZMO services.

Abstract

This paper is to analyse determinants that influence implementation of accounting standards for Islamic financial institutions. It’s done by examining the history of accounting standards and two different contexts as applied to Islamic financial institutions in the United Kingdom and Indonesia. The paper adopts meta-analysis method by exploring available texts and literature with the goal to learn 'what is going on here?' and to investigate social phenomena without explicit expectations. Employing the Ibn Khaldun perspective, this study analyses two determinants i.e. institutional setting that may be suitable in the context of the United Kingdom, and accounting needs in the case of Indonesia. The research shows the determinants are well fitted with interdisciplinary characters of Ibn Khaldun model of civilization.DOI: 10.15408/aiq.v10i1.5676
