Abstract

This article examines the religious authority contestation among study groups in Langsa City, Aceh. The existence of a diversity of study groups does not mean the people there accept the existing plurality. Apart from the growth of religious authority from the Traditional Islamic community, several things also influence it. So the diversity phenomena in religion often become a mass struggle. This research is included in field-library research with qualitative analysis. Data were collected through interviews, documentation, and observation in the study groups. The data were analyzed using a sociology approach and social theory. This article presents two significant findings, including scientific contestation developed by each study group and mass struggle as a confirmation of the authority holder. These two pieces of evidence show that the spread of religious authorities does not necessarily make people accept plurality in religion. Furthermore, Islamic law in Aceh tends to always be in religious contestation.

Abstract

This paper explores the contestation between Puritanism and traditionalism in Muslim communities focused oncase studies on the East Coast of Aceh by groups in urban religious recitation. The article addressing to the subject so far concludes that fundamentalism and traditionalism are two theological forces that are constantly in conflict with each other. This paper seeks to demonstrate that while interactions between the two groups are affected by doctrinal disputes, the two culturesare fairly effective in managing diversity, such that disparities in religious beliefs do not result in group tension and mass abuse. The data used in this research were collected through participatory evaluation, in-depth interviews and literature studies. Finally, this paper shows that the Acehnese people's ability to care for tolerance, although it seems clear that the practical tolerance practiced by the people who are the subjects of this research has been redefined and contextualized in line with the situation of a community dominated by traditionalist Muslim groups.

Abstract

This study explores the contestation over religious authority between ulama of dayah and Salafis & Wahhabis in Meulaboh, West Aceh, highlighting the struggle for theological, cultural, and political legitimacy in the Islamic public sphere. Its primary goal is to examine how the living sunnah—the practice of sunnah intertwined with local cultural customs and the rituals of dayah—confronts the strict, text-based definition of as-sunnah promoted by Salafis and Wahhabis. Using qualitative research methods and a sociology of religion framework, this study incorporates Weberian’s authority theory and Bourdieu's habitus concept to analyze the power relations, identities, and social practices involved in the conflict. Findings reveal that this dispute is more than just an ideological or theological issue; it is a struggle for social, symbolic, and political-economic dominance, as seen in cases like Masjid Jabir al-Ka'by and local religious rituals along the west coast of Aceh. This study underscores that the contestation of the sunnah is not merely a religious debate but a social dynamic that shapes who has the authority to define authentic Islam, preserve local identity, and control the religious public sphere.

Abstract

Detecting bearing defects at low rotational speeds remains a major challenge due to weak impulsive responses and dominant low-frequency components. This study evaluated the feasibility of using a standard industrial accelerometer (1 µA/ms², equivalent to 100 mV/g) for detecting outer race defects in bearings operating at 100–300 RPM. Experiments were conducted under both baseline and defected conditions using two mounting configurations: stud and magnetic. Vibration responses were analysed through overall values (velocity, acceleration, and shock pulse), spectral analysis, enveloped signals, and time waveform comparisons. Results show that standard accelerometers can effectively detect bearing defect signatures in low-speed machines (100–300 RPM), with diagnostic performance strongly influenced by the sensor mounting method. At 100 RPM, magnetic mounting occasionally recorded higher acceleration readings (?30%) due to uneven impulsive energy distribution and low-speed dynamic instability. At higher speeds (200–300 RPM), stud mounting produced stronger and more stable responses, with amplitudes about 2–8% higher than magnetic mounting, confirming its superior coupling rigidity. Spectral analysis alone was limited by broadband noise, while time waveform and envelope analyses revealed clearer defect-related impacts, particularly at 1× RPM and 2× BPFO. Overall, stud-mounted sensors demonstrated more consistent and reliable performance, validating their suitability for accurate and practical low-speed vibration monitoring.
