Abstract

The object that used for this research tells about the interaction between two men who initially didn't know each other. They were stuck in a flight delay at the airport. The two men talked about many things. And then the facts were revealed, one of them had extreme hallucinations and the other was the part of the man who had the hallucinations. This research aims to explain what kind of abnormal behavior the character has and explain the relationship between events that occur in the character's life and his abnormal behavior. The theories used for this analysis are characterization, psychology of literature, abnormal psychology, and events. The results of this research indicate that the two main characters have abnormal behavior in the form of behavior that violates social norms, maladaptive behavior, hallucinations, and dangerous behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the flow of story sequences in the Demain novel by Guillaume Musso. The analysis shows that the interplay of the past and the present events is one narrative strategy to incite the the curiosity of the readers on the one hand and to delay the possible logic of the sequential story. The results of this study show that the structure of the text contained in the novel Demain can be divided into two main parts, namely: The first part is the group of pre-marriage events that occurred in the years of respectively 1991,1992,1993,1994,1996,1998,1999. While The second stage is the period of the marriage between Matthew and Kate in the year. 2006, The accidental event of old computer purchase by Matthew, the main character leads to a new dimension that opens the way to retrospect the old events.

Abstract

This research aims to present the narration's structure, identify the narrator's type and positions, and identify the type of focalization. The method used in this research is qualitative, with an objective approach focusing on intrinsic elements of the novel. Based on the analysis of the data, it was found that the novel Le service des manuscrits employs the framed narrative technique, with inserted text that serves to explain and complement the primary text. The narrator in this novel is of the heterodiegetic type, situated at the metadiegetic level. The type of focalization in this novel is variable focalization. The framed storytelling technique in Le service des manuscripts provides a distinctive yet complex reading experience, as the layered structure of the story universe is narrated and focalized through several types of narrators and characters involved in the story.
