Abstract

Vocabulary plays the most important part in learning a foreign language especially in the early stage of elementary school. Without knowing the vocabulary, students will not be able in the four language skills, such as speaking, reading, listening and writing. The students’ lack of vocabulary make students cannotcommunicate their ideas as clearly as they would have to. The fifth year students have difficulty to follow English learning if they do not have enough English vocabulary. According to guideline of English teaching, elementary students should master 500 words. Students are not able to construct, even, a simple sentence consisting of subject and predicate. Students are also not be able to pronounce a word correctly, they pronounce a word based on what they see. According to the writer’s observation in the classroom, while teacher explains the lesson, the students prefer to do something else such as drawing, writing and talking to their partner. To use minimalpair exercises as vocabulary development, the writer represented the words in each minimal pairs to teach or reinforce the meaning of vocabulary while practicing thepronunciation of the words. Students can also put the words in meaningful context sentences. The result of the research shows the students’ improvement after using minimal pairs.

Abstract

Writing is most likely to encourage thinking and learning when the students view writing as a process. By recognizing that writing is a recursive process and every writer uses process in a different way, students experience less pressure to “get it right the first time” and more willing to experiment, explore, revise, and edit. Yet, novice writers need to practice “writing” or exercises that involved copying or reproduction of learned material in order to learn the conventions of spelling, punctuation, grammatical agreement, and the like. Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan salah satu bidang yang sangat penting dan memerlukan perhatian khusus dari semua lapisan masyarakat, bukan hanya pemerintah yang bertanggung jawab atas keberhasilan dan kemajuaan pendidikan di Indonesia akan tetapi semua pihak guru, orang tua maupun peserta didik sendiri ikut bertanggung jawab. Belajar adalah suatu proses usaha yang dilakukan oleh seseorang untuk memperoleh perubahan tingkah laku yang baru secara keseluruhan sebagai hasil pengalamannya sendiri dalam interaksi dengan lingkungan. Jadi belajar merupakan akibat adanya interaksi antara stimulus dan respon. Seseorang telah dianggap belajar jika dia menunjukan perubahan pola fikir dan prilaku. Belajar bisa dilakukan dimana saja dan kapan saja. Dengan segala keadaan, pembelajaran daring merupakan hal yang lumrah dilakukan saat ini. Fiqh merupakan mata pelajaran yang disajikan di sekolah islam dan merupakan salah satu mata pelajaran yang fundamental dalam hidup.

Abstract

Nowadays, English vocabulary has been taught since the first grade of elementary schools. It shows that one of the crucial aspects of English is vocabulary. Vocabulary as one of the language component is very important in language skills namely writing, reading, listening, and speaking. It will be very difficult to master these four basic language skills without sufficient words. Mastery of words is very important in language learning. If we listen, we listen to words, if we speak we speak or use words, if we read, we encounter words, if we write we use words. Considering the importance of words, teachers have to find ways to teach words or vocabulary. It is known that vocabulary plays an important role in learning a new language. In teaching vocabulary, teachers should be creative in implementing strategies in order to motivate students to learn. So, the writer was going to investigate the teachers’ strategies in teaching vocabulary at SDN 102 Pekanbaru and what are the considerations that make the teachers apply certain strategies in teaching vocabulary.

Abstract

Mempelajari Al-Qur’an Hadits adalah kewajiban bagi seluruh kaum muslimin, karena keduanya merupakan sumber hukum agama Islam. Sebagai pegangan dan pedoman hidup bagi kaum muslimin yang menginginkan kebahagian dunia akhirat, maka Al-Qur’an Hadits perlu dipelajari agar dalam menjalani kehidupan tidak tersesat. Salah satunya madrasah yang memberikan kurikulum belajar agama lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan kurikulum di sekolah umum. Sebab mata pelajaran Agama Islam di madrasah dibagi menjadi sub-sub pelajaran. Seperti Aqidah Akhlaq, Bahasa Arab, Al-Qur’an Hadits, Fiqih dan Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam. Hal itu diharapkan dapat memperoleh penyampaian yang lebih luas dalam mendalami materi yang diajarkan kepada siswa.

Abstract

This study investigates the learning preferences of Generation Y students in the context of English language courses in the Riau and Kepulauan Riau regions. Employing a mixed-methods approach, it combines quantitative analysis and qualitative interviews to gain comprehensive insights into how these students approach learning and studying. The quantitative analysis revealed a diverse distribution of learning preferences, with kinesthetic learning being the dominant preference, followed by visual, auditory, and reading/writing preferences. Qualitative insights demonstrated students' adaptability and a willingness to employ a range of learning strategies based on context and content. The study also highlighted the divergence in preferences for technology, emphasizing the need for a blended learning approach. Understanding individual learning styles emerged as a key factor for academic success. These findings underline the importance of flexible, inclusive teaching approaches that cater to the diverse learning needs of Generation Y students.

Abstract

This research investigates the development and evaluation of a brainstorming-based worksheet as a pedagogical instrument for enhancing students' writing skills. The study involves 35 students from Indragiri Hulu Regency and utilizes a mixed-methods approach, incorporating quantitative assessments and qualitative interviews. The quantitative data reveal a significant improvement in writing scores, with 77% of students using the worksheet achieving higher scores compared to those who did not. These findings indicate a tangible positive impact on writing skills attributed to the worksheet. Qualitative data obtained through interviews with students shed light on their experiences. The worksheet is described as a transformative tool that provides structure and clarity to the writing process. Students report heightened creativity, improved organization, and greater self-assurance in expressing complex ideas. While some initial challenges were noted, students overcame them to realize the long-term benefits of structured brainstorming. The results suggest that the brainstorming-based worksheet offers a valuable approach to writing instruction, fostering confident, creative, and proficient writers. This research underscores the significance of structured methods in enhancing writing skills, offering implications for pedagogy and the advancement of writing education.
