Abstract

Natural Fe3O4 particles obtained by extracting and manual pulverizing natural iron sand, are doped in the TeO⋅ZnO⋅Li2O glass system by melt quenching technique at 800 °C. X-ray diffraction spectra confirms the presence of iron sand particles with the 33-146 nm diameters and the glassy structure. Vibrating sample magnetometer reveals the pulverized sand exhibits paramagnetic behaviour with magnetic susceptibility of 2.76 × 10^-4 m^3 kg^-1. Incorporation of  the particles in the glasses changes color, thermal stability and improve the glass formation ability through value of Tc-Tg. Ultraviolet–visible measurements show the optical energy band gap decreases by 1.58 eV. Meanwhile, the resonance amplitude of the electron spin resonance spectrum decreases due to the presence of Fe3O4 particles in reducing the unpaired electron spin. The synthesized glasses exhibit paramagneticbehavior. Keywords: Iron Sand, Ferrite oxide, Tellurite, Glass, Optical band gap, Magnetic property, ESR −Tcg

Abstract

For the effectiveness and smoothness in handling disasters and emergencies in the city of Palu, it is deemed necessary to have a Public Safety Center building that will facilitate disaster mitigation activities and serve as a first aid station in emergencies caused by disasters and accidents. According to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 19 of 2016, the Public Safety Center (PSC) is a service center that guarantees the community's needs in matters related to emergencies within the district/city. Furthermore, because this building serves as a safety center, the design will incorporate a form concept approach that responds to earthquake disasters. This research is a study that uses the architectural design method. The architectural design method is a design process that will produce a design based on data collected beforehand, where the data is highly relevant to the research. The data were obtained through interviews, surveys, and field observations. The design concept of the building form for the Integrated Safety Service Center was created with a basic square shape. This shape was chosen with the consideration of aligning with the building's function, thereby facilitating users in carrying out their activities. Additionally, this shape is also deemed to ease its arrangement on the planning site. Because, as is known, the square shape has a character that is easy and efficient in its arrangement. Moreover, if we refer to the regulations of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) regarding earthquake-resistant building shape standards, the basic shape of the Integrated Safety Service Center building as the design object is in accordance with the earthquake-resistant building floor plan shape standard, which is a square-shaped floor plan

Abstract

The development of urban coastal areas presents many challenges, including limited access to basic infrastructure services and vulnerability to natural disasters. This study aims to evaluate the quality of coastal settlement infrastructure in Buol, with a focus on Buol Village in the Biau subdistrict. Buol Village is also the capital of Buol Regency. The results provide recommendations for policy directions on settlement development that are adaptive to the coastal environment. The research method uses a descriptive, quantitative, evaluative case study approach. The study results indicate that the majority of infrastructure facilities are rated "good" with an average score of 3.68. As a result, several other infrastructure components also meet the standards. Basic infrastructure components that meet standards include drainage, waste and sanitation management, and waste management. This research recommends several policy directions, including strengthening residential environmental facilities that are already functioning well, such as education, health, road networks, and electricity, which do not yet meet standards. It is hoped that these will focus on improving services, managing structures, and organizing the environment, like upgrading drainage systems, managing wastewater and sanitation, providing clean water, handling waste, and planning areas better to work with disaster prevention and coastal management. These findings and recommendations aim to support the formulation of more adaptive coastal community development policies by involving community participation and relevant stakeholders to ensure environmental protection in the urban coastal areas of Buol City, while also taking into account the historical background of the area, which in turn will positively impact the region’s image and improve the quality of life of its residents
