Abstract

This research is motivated by the low mathematical critical thinking skills of elementary school students. Mathematical critical thinking skills are critical for students to master. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the effect of the CPA approach assisted by AR on the mathematical critical thinking skills of elementary school students. The type of research used is a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design with the subject matter of geometry building space. This research was conducted on 42 students in one of the elementary schools in Purwakarta Regency. Data were collected before and after learning by giving test instruments of mathematical critical thinking skills of elementary school students and documentation. Data analysis techniques are done with descriptive and inferential analysis in the form of normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t' test. Based on the results of data analysis, it shows that there is an influence between the application of learning with the CPA approach assisted by AR on improving students' mathematical critical thinking skills by 81.3%. Thus, the CPA approach assisted by AR can be used as an alternative learning approach that can help improve the mathematical critical thinking skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

Kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menelusuri referensi ilmiah merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam proses penulisan karya ilmiah di perguruan tinggi. Namun demikian, masih banyak mahasiswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam menemukan sumber referensi yang relevan dan berkualitas karena keterbatasan pengetahuan mengenai perangkat pencarian literatur akademik. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi referensi ilmiah mahasiswa melalui pendampingan pemanfaatan aplikasi Publish or Perish (PoP). Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Perpustakaan Universitas Ma’arif Lampung pada tanggal 14 September 2025 dengan melibatkan mahasiswa sebagai peserta pelatihan. Metode kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan pelatihan partisipatif yang memadukan penyampaian materi, demonstrasi penggunaan aplikasi, serta praktik langsung dalam melakukan penelusuran artikel ilmiah dari berbagai basis data akademik. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa mampu memahami fungsi serta cara penggunaan aplikasi Publish or Perish dalam mencari referensi ilmiah secara lebih sistematis dan efisien. Selain meningkatkan keterampilan teknis dalam penggunaan aplikasi, kegiatan ini juga mendorong peningkatan literasi informasi akademik mahasiswa dalam menyeleksi dan memanfaatkan sumber referensi ilmiah yang kredibel. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan pendampingan ini memberikan kontribusi positif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam melakukan penelusuran literatur ilmiah serta mendukung proses penulisan karya ilmiah di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. The ability of students to search for scientific references is an essential component in academic writing at the university level. However, many students still face difficulties in finding relevant and credible scholarly sources due to limited knowledge of academic literature search tools. Therefore, this Community Service Program aimed to improve students’ scientific reference literacy through training and assistance in utilizing the Publish or Perish (PoP) application. The activity was conducted at the Library of Universitas Ma’arif Lampung on September 14, 2025, involving university students as participants. The program employed a participatory training approach that combined theoretical explanations, demonstrations of the application, and hands-on practice in searching for scholarly articles from various academic databases. The results of the activity indicate that students were able to understand the functions and operational procedures of the Publish or Perish application in conducting systematic and efficient searches for scientific references. In addition to improving students’ technical skills in using the application, the activity also contributed to enhancing their academic information literacy in selecting and utilizing credible scholarly sources. Overall, this mentoring activity provides a positive contribution to strengthening students’ ability to conduct literature searches and supports the improvement of academic writing in higher education.
